Clarke’s Director of Alumni Relations will be the primary liaison between Clarke and its former students and their parents, responsible for designing and implementing strategies to keep alumni engaged, connected, and supportive of Clarke’s mission. Clarke alumni range in age from 1 to 100 and represent children and adults of all ages who are deaf or hearing impaired.
Clarke alumni are located across the country, but primarily on the Eastern seaboard with an emphasis on New England. The position requires strong leadership, innovative approaches to problem-solving, organizational skills, and a passion for building and nurturing relationships. Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive alumni relations program that effectively engages and cultivates relationships with alumni.
- Plan and coordinate a variety of events and activities to foster connections between alumni and Clarke.
- Collaborate with other Clarke departments to integrate alumni engagement initiatives into broader institutional activities and goals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date alumni information.
- Create and distribute regular communications to keep alumni informed about Clarke news and programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to solicit alumni support, including volunteering, mentoring, and financial contributions.
- Coordinate and support regional alumni groups or affinity groups to connect them to Clarke’s programs.
- Track and evaluate the success of alumni engagement efforts.

Requirements:- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect and communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals ages 1-100!
- Strong event planning and project management skills, and problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate multiple events and initiatives simultaneously within given timelines and budgets.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce engaging and compelling content for a variety of communication channels.
- Proficient in CRM systems, databases, and other relevant software.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles and strategies, with the ability to engage alumni in philanthropic activities and campaigns.
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in developing new initiatives and programs to engage alumni.
- Familiarity with current trends and best practices in alumni relations, planned giving, and the broader advancement field.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as communications or marketing.
- At least five years of experience in alumni relations, fundraising, or related fields with a history of success in developing and executing strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrated leadership experience including managing committees and volunteers.
- Familiarity with alumni relations software and CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge.
- Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary for events and activities.
