This is an 8 hour per day 188 day per year Prof/Tech Paraeducator (6 hours) and Paraeducator (2 hours) position with benefits at ECEAP. Anticipated start date is January 5 2026.

Hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Family Service Worker provides comprehensive and integrated family support services to 40 families. This position will build relationships; identify strengths; coordinate services and community resources and support parent involvement. Family Support also includes enrollments recruitment parent education and training family activities and once a month evening events. Family support workers maintain flexible hours to provide services when parents are available. AA in ECE or social services is required.

Minimum qualifications: An associate degree or higher in early childhood education.

Preferred qualifications: An associate degree or higher in family support studies.

Rate of Pay

Prof/Tech: $43.90-$54.74/hour

Paraeducator: $29.05-$39.07/hour

JOB TITLE : ECEAP Professional Technical Paraeducator/Paraeducator

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Paraeducator - MESP

REPORTS TO: ECEAP Director

JOB SUMMARY:

Assist the teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate educational and social activities; welcome families and students to the program; assist families and students with school orientation; provide comprehensive and integrated family support services to enrolled families; and work collaboratively with ECEAP staff the families and community.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise and conduct individual and small groups in educational creative and structured play activities; assist with class work and assignments.
  • Monitor student behavior and progress and share observations with teacher and other professional staff; participate in parent-teacher conferences.
  • Implement parent education and family activities and provide referrals for individuals and families.
  • Provide a minimum of three (3) hours of home visits for each enrolled family. Document work on goals and referrals for families.
  • Administer health screenings maintain test data and make appropriate referrals based on results.
  • Assist in the supervision of volunteer and student assistants.
  • Administer first aid as appropriate; may track and dispense authorized student medication as required.
  • Paraeducators may be subject to reassignment of job duties depending on program building and student needs.
  • Paraeducator assignments may include providing physical assistance to disabled students such as feeding lifting and positioning or assistance with personal hygiene/toileting; may be required to restrain out-of-control students for safety. May be required to assist students with the use specific equipment related to their disability (e.g. materials assistive technology visual aids); may be required to track and dispense authorized student medications.
  • Type and distribute forms correspondence contracts worksheets tests and schedules using office machines.
  • Perform equipment and supply inventories; orders materials as necessary.
  • Comply with District Policies.
  • Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regularly work hours specified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of math spelling reading grammar and punctuation.
  • Desire and aptitude to work with students.
  • Ability to positively interact with students supervisors and staff.
  • Works cooperatively in a team situation.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or previous experience effectively dealing with student behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and meet deadlines in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to operate or willingness to learn to operate standard classroom equipment.
  • Provide for the physical health and safety needs of students.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide physical assistance for and properly lift students in and out of chairs in accordance with safe lifting requirements and the use of adaptive equipment as required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications used to assist with student learning.
  • Ability to strengthen job-related competencies.

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits) or have obtained an associates (or higher) degree or have successfully passed the ParaPro Assessment developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS)
  • Valid Washington Drivers License with acceptable driving record preferred
  • Depending on assignment may be required to complete behavior modification programs including safe physical restraining techniques and/or other training as required.

All persons serving in the role of ECEAP Professional Technical Paraeducator must meet the following qualifications:

  • Thirty college credits of human services or family support (ECEAP Requirement)
