Project Manager III, Radiation Oncology

Overview

Project Manager III is responsible for leading and executing complex projects that have significant impact on organizational goals. This role involves managing multiple high-priority projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring project success through effective stakeholder engagement. The Project Manager will drive strategic initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement while focusing on strategic project outcomes and long-term goals.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Radiation Oncology Operations the Project Manager III will provide expert project management and for the Department of Radiation Oncology. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including clinical staff, administrators, finance, external partners, facilities, and executive leadership across the institution. The role will require a strong understanding of healthcare operations, project management best practices, and the unique needs of a complex academic medical environment. Projects may range from large-scale program development and technology replacement to network expansion, infrastructure improvements, and business collaborations. The Project Manager III will be expected to coordinate resources, develop project plans, monitor progress, and ensure successful project delivery within defined scope, timeline, and budget.

This position's work location is fully remote with occasional time on-campus in Boston, MA . T he selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).

Responsibilities

  • Scope and Complexity: Lead complex projects with significant organizational impact, involving multiple high-priority tasks and cross-functional teams.
  • Decision Making: Exercise significant decision-making authority in project planning, execution, and resource management, with a focus on strategic outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Interaction and Communication: Engage with senior leadership and external partners to align project objectives with organizational goals and drive success.
  • Project Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to project teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Quality Improvement: Implement best practices in quality assurance, developing strategies to optimize processes and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to translate strategic initiatives to detailed project plans, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and long-term goals.
  • Mentorship and Development: Mentor and guide project teams, promoting professional development and a culture of excellence.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience with progressively increasing responsibility of which at least four (4) years must be in project management OR comparable roles.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on strategic thinking and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Proficiency in advanced project management tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and drive change.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
