As a Senior Engineering Manager, you'll lead multiple teams building the next generation of interoperability and healthcare connectivity systems. You will scale both technology and teams with a focus on reliability, security, and long-term sustainability, ensuring that every healthcare decision is powered by trusted, timely data.
As a Senior Engineering Manager on our Provider Engineering team, you will:
- Lead and grow multiple engineering teams responsible for building scalable API products and platform capabilities that power interoperability, automation, and digital workflows for providers.
- Drive engineering excellence and organizational maturity across reliability, observability, security, and compliance while ensuring operational rigor at scale.
- Scale Datavant's engineering capabilities by building reusable systems, frameworks, and processes that enable multiple teams to move faster and deliver with quality.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Implementation, and Digital Operations to deliver mission-critical enterprise SaaS solutions that improve healthcare outcomes.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, mentorship, and purpose-driven leadership that grows with the organization.
- Define and execute the technical and organizational vision for Datavant's Connections platform in alignment with product strategy and business goals.
- Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams, developing next-generation technical and people leaders.
- Establish enterprise-grade engineering practices — SLAs, monitoring, incident response, security controls, and compliance frameworks aligned with B2B SaaS and healthcare standards.
- Partner cross-functionally to accelerate value delivery, improve developer productivity, and expand Datavant's integration ecosystem.
- Model mission-first leadership, ensuring every engineering investment advances interoperability, data privacy, and healthcare impact.
- Collaborate with peer engineering leaders to drive technical consistency, operational excellence, and cultural alignment across the broader organization.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 6–8+ years in engineering management leading multiple teams, tech leads, or managers.
- Proven track record scaling enterprise-grade B2B SaaS platforms in regulated industries (healthcare or financial services strongly preferred).
- Experience building foundational platforms and APIs that support multiple products or customer use cases.
- Deep understanding of systems design for scale, including multi-tenancy, cost optimization, observability, and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated success in elevating engineering maturity, implementing quality frameworks, compliance processes, and continuous improvement systems.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working effectively with Product, Design, and GTM partners.
- Deep mission alignment with Datavant's purpose of improving healthcare through secure, compliance, and scalable data exchange.
- 10+ years of engineering experience spanning startups and enterprise-scale environments.
- Balances strategic thinking with hands-on technical engagement.

The range posted is for a given job title, which can include multiple levels. Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job.The estimated total cash compensation range for this role is:
$220,000—$270,000 USD
