Travel Pathology Assistant Job

TLC Healthforce
Pittsfield, MA
Embark on a dynamic, purpose-driven opportunity as a Pathology Assistant in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, where your expertise helps illuminate the critical links between laboratory science and compassionate patient care. In this specialty, your precision and keen eye for detail drive accurate diagnoses, timely case processing, and the efficiency of surgical pathology workflows. Imagine stepping into a role that blends hands-on dissection, meticulous documentation, and collaborative problem-solving with seasoned pathologists. Here, your contributions translate into faster, clearer insights for clinicians and better outcomes for patients. And as you chart your path forward, you’ll be nestled in a region celebrated for its blend of outdoor beauty, cultural richness, and small-town warmth—while maintaining the flexibility to explore other U.S. locales through our extended network when opportunities arise. The beauty of Massachusetts is never far away: from the scenic Berkshire hills and gentle river valleys to vibrant fall colors and a calendar full of arts, music, and historic charm. It’s a place where work-life balance can thrive amid world-class nature and enduring community spirit.

Pittsfield offers a welcoming Northeast base with easy access to the broader Massachusetts landscape, pairing a supportive local health ecosystem with the chance to collaborate across a network of facilities. In this location, you’ll enjoy the advantage of a stable regional hub for pathology services, a community that values rigorous standards, and the opportunity to engage with dedicated teams that share a commitment to accuracy, safety, and continuous learning. Beyond your day-to-day lab duties, this assignment invites you to experience the charm of the Berkshires—the hiking trails, scenic drives, and seasonal festivals—and the option to expand your horizons by working at partner sites across the United States. Whether you choose to stay within Massachusetts or explore other regions, you’ll benefit from a roadmap that supports professional curiosity, flexible scheduling, and meaningful, recurring collaboration with pathologists and clinical staff who respect your expertise.

As a Pathology Assistant, your core responsibilities include gross examination of surgical specimens, precise dissection for accurate histology, specimen accessioning, and supervision of key dissection and sampling steps under the guidance of board-certified pathologists. You’ll perform detailed measurements, document intraoperative findings, and assist with frozen sections as required, ensuring specimen integrity and appropriate labeling, photography, and documentation. You’ll manage quality-control processes, maintain compliance with CAP and CLIA guidelines, and contribute to the optimization of lab workflows through thoughtful input on processing, embedding, and reporting practices. Alongside technical proficiency, you’ll grow as a confident communicator—preparing accurate gross descriptions, collaborating with clinicians to resolve diagnostic questions, and contributing to case dashboards that help teams streamline decision-making. The assignment offers a clear path to professional development: you’ll stay current with evolving pathology techniques, gain exposure to a range of surgical subspecialties, and refine your leadership skills by mentoring junior staff and coordinating specimen workflows across shifts. Our program supports your ambition with an emphasis on ongoing education, cross-site experiences when appropriate, and structured opportunities to broaden your scope within the pathology continuum.

Compensation reflects the value of your skills and the mobility of a travel-focused role. This position features weekly pay in the range of $3,001-$3,080, with a multi-week assignment designed to align with project needs and site availability. The package also includes attractive incentives such as a sign-on bonus and housing assistance to ease relocation, plus the potential for contract extensions based on performance and site needs. You’ll have dedicated, 24/7 support from a travel-focused team to answer questions, troubleshoot, and coordinate logistics as you move between assignments or return to Pittsfield. Our goal is to remove friction so you can focus on the science, the patients, and the clinical teams you support. You’ll be part of a network that prioritizes your well-being, professional growth, and the sense that your work truly underpins patient outcomes and hospital excellence.

Our company values your professional voice and your career trajectory. We are committed to empowering Pathology Assistants by offering meaningful opportunities to expand your scope, collaborate with expert pathologists, and advance within a supportive environment that respects work-life balance, ethical practice, and continual learning. You’ll find transparent communication, mentorship, and a culture that celebrates accuracy, curiosity, and resilience. This is more than a job—it’s a pathway to deeper expertise, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a lasting impact on patient care across communities.

Ready to elevate your pathology career and contribute to a team that values your exacting standards and leadership potential? If you’re prepared to bring meticulous technique, analytical thinking, and a collaborative spirit to Pittsfield and beyond, apply now. This is your invitation to join a dynamic network that rewards your expertise, supports your growth, and helps you shape the future of pathology care through every specimen you touch.
