Environmental Educator
The Nantucket Conservation Foundation (NCF) is a leading conservation organization focused on caring for the island’s natural resources through science-based stewardship. The Environmental Educator contributes to the implementation of in-person programs and events and the development of education resources that connect the community to Nantucket’s unique ecosystems.
The Environmental Educator will help facilitate NCF’s renowned education programs and events, advancing the Foundation’s goal to engage the wider community on NCF properties year-round. This position reports to the Education Coordinator/Ecologist, and works closely with them to ensure high-quality program delivery and meaningful community engagement.
Specific Responsibilities
- Participate in the leadership and logistics of educational programs, workshops, and excursions.
- Develop and expand educational program opportunities for multiple age groups.
- Contribute multimedia posts across NCF’s social media channels.
- Write articles for digital and print communications
- Represent NCF at community events, activities, commissions, and initiatives.
- Assist in development of written and digital education materials for multiple age groups.
- Assist in development of educational signage and displays for use on NCF properties.
- Capture and catalog photos of staff, programs, properties, organisms, and events.
- Assist in improvement and troubleshooting of the NCF Website, ACKTrails App, and ARCGIS Online Databases.
- Assist in the projects of our Ecological Research, Stewardship, & Restoration Department to help enhance the public’s understanding of our work.
- Assist the Marketing & Development Department during community events and outreach campaigns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Education, Conservation, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in environmental education or relevant ecology work.
- Comfortable with public speaking and leading walking tours.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
- Experience with volunteer coordination and/or supervisory experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, and Adobe Suite.
- Detail oriented.
- Able to work independently to accomplish assigned goals.
- Able to work effectively and collaboratively with other team members to accomplish collective goals.

Benefits
$60,000-$65,000 annual salary depending on experience. Full benefits, matching 401K, and enrollment in the company health care plan are provided.
