Boston University's College of Arts & Sciences, Romance Studies department seeks a Senior Staff Coordinator to manage front office operations and support faculty, students, and staff in a multilingual, diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Run the public-facing front office of the department and support a community of approximately 90 full-time and part-time faculty, graduate students, and staff.
• Hire and supervise student workers in a variety of tasks.
• Coordinate the course scheduling of the undergraduate language and literature program.
• Assign faculty advisors to majors and minors in French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
• Edit a weekly departmental newsletter and help maintain the departmental webpage and social media.
• Disseminate information about courses and provide information and statistics to faculty and staff as needed.
• Organize departmental events, including social occasions and Commencement.
• Work as a full-time, 12-month staff member with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or B.A.
• 1-3 years of experience.
• Experience in communicating effectively and diplomatically, both orally and in writing, with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to find creative ways to promote the work of faculty and students and enrich the undergraduate experience for language and literature majors.
