Commercial Estimator (Acton)

Our client, a growing commercial construction firm, is seeking a motivated Estimator to join their preconstruction team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in shaping winning bids for a variety of commercial projects- from early concept through final pricing.

You’ll be working closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to develop accurate, competitive estimates that directly impact project success. This is a strong opportunity for an early-career estimator who wants real ownership, exposure to diverse project types, and a clear path for growth within a collaborative, fast-moving environment.

What You’ll Do

• Build detailed cost estimates and bid packages for commercial construction projects
• Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure competitive pricing
• Help develop scopes of work and identify risks, gaps, and value-engineering opportunities early in the process
• Partner with project managers, superintendents, and the broader preconstruction team throughout the bidding lifecycle
• Maintain organized, reliable documentation of estimates, assumptions, and historical cost data
• Support cost-saving initiatives and creative solutions that improve project outcomes
• Manage multiple bids at once while working within tight deadlines

What We’re Looking For

• 2–3 years of estimating experience in commercial construction
• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications with confidence
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software tools
• Highly organized with strong analytical and time management skills
• Clear communicator who works well across internal teams and external partners
• Experience with subcontractor bid leveling and procurement processes
• Exposure to healthcare, infrastructure, or public-sector projects is a plus
