Job Description
The Electronics Technician I builds and wires electrical control panels, junction boxes, and related subassemblies according to detailed schematics and customer specifications. This role requires strong hands-on electrical and mechanical assembly skills, the ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams, and a commitment to quality and safety in a manufacturing environment. The position follows a Monday–Friday second-shift schedule from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and may require overtime. This role is paying $24 an hour with no room to negotiate.
Responsibilities
- Wire and build electrical control panels, junction boxes, and subassemblies in accordance with customer requirements and engineering documentation.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and bills of material to determine assembly and wiring methods.
- Drill, ream, or tap holes in enclosures and panels to mount control units and provide openings for components, wiring, and instruments.
- Complete point-to-point wiring and install a wide variety of electronic and electrical components, including PLCs, relays, lights, switches, and related devices.
- Use a variety of small hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, tape measures, and Allen wrenches to assemble and wire components.
- Perform mechanical installation and electrical wiring for control panels, desks, and associated equipment.
- Carry out operations such as deburring, grinding, sawing, drilling, tapping, and cutting as required for panel fabrication and assembly.
- Install finished assemblies or subassemblies into cases, cabinets, and other enclosures, ensuring proper fit, labeling, and routing of cables and harnesses.
- Inspect work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with schematics, electrical diagrams, and production standards.
- Move materials and products within the plant using hand pallet jacks and other approved equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to lockout/tagout and other safety certifications as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
- Collaborate with team members and work independently as needed to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
- Demonstrate willingness to work overtime as business needs require.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in control panel building, wiring, and electrical assembly.
- Proficiency in reading and working from blueprints, electrical schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Ability to perform mechanical installation and electrical wiring for control panels and desks.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools to drill, tap, and assemble electrical panels.
- Experience with wiring harnesses or components, including various wire gauges, types, and sizes.
- Understanding of electrical currents and basic electrical principles.
- Ability to operate and safely use hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, saws, and crimpers.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and frequently lift materials and products up to 30 pounds.
- Capability to read and write in English to understand work orders, safety instructions, and technical documentation.
- Reliable transportation to maintain consistent attendance for the scheduled shift.
- Availability to work overtime when required to support production demands.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail in both electrical and mechanical assembly work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience building electrical control panels in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ladder logic schematics and PLC-related wiring.
- Experience with drilling and tapping sheet metal for mounting components and routing wiring.
- Skills in electrical assembly, electronic assembly, and control panel building.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- High level of motivation, strong work ethic, and detail-oriented approach to assembly and wiring tasks.
- Comfort working on an assembly line or in a production environment with defined processes and quality standards.
- Experience using inspection methods to verify wiring, component placement, and overall panel quality.
- Lockout/tagout and fork truck certifications, or the ability to obtain certifications as required for the role.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment with normal industrial working conditions. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and products up to 30 pounds, extended periods of standing, and regular use of hand and power tools. You will work around machinery and electrical equipment, and you must consistently use required safety equipment, which includes eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, and hard hats where designated. Safety shoes are required at all times throughout the manufacturing plant. Loose-fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted due to safety considerations. Depending on your specific duties, you may also use additional personal protective equipment for drilling, tapping, deburring, cutting, testing, lifting, and moving materials. Certain functions may require certifications such as lockout/tagout and fork truck operation. The role follows a Monday–Friday second-shift schedule from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with overtime as needed based on production demands.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bellingham, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.44 - $25.44/hr.
