Visitor Experience Associate
Function of the Position:
The Visitor Experience Associate is central to creating a welcoming, engaging, and well-organized experience for all guests who visit American Ancestors. Interacting with thousands of members and visitors annually, this position serves as a key point of contact with the public and builds meaningful relationships by supporting daily customer service and the coordination of adult group visits. From responding to initial inquiries to welcoming all guests upon arrival, the Visitor Experience Associate ensures a smooth, informed, and positive experience at every stage of the visit. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position with a Tuesday through Saturday, 9:45 am – 6:15 pm schedule. The role is based on-site at our headquarters; remote work is not available.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Welcome and check-in members, visitors, and volunteers while providing overall onsite customer service.
- Effectively communicate knowledge of American Ancestors’ resources, services, events, and mission to members and guests.
- Support revenue-generating activities by promoting membership sales and directing visitors to the bookstore.
- Coordinate adult group visits by responding to inquiries, sending confirmations, and processing payment.
- Update internal calendars and collaborate with colleagues across departments to support daily operations and scheduled visits.
- Provide occasional coverage for colleagues within the bookstore.
- Conduct security checks at the admission desk to ensure proper safety procedures are followed by guests.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of customer service experience, ideally in a museum, library, or similar public-facing environment.
- Enthusiasm for helping people of all backgrounds.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to communicate professionally and diplomatically.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Microsoft Office and Windows computer proficiency.
- Familiarity with CRM database systems (e.g., Tessitura) and data entry is a plus.
- Interest in genealogy or history is a plus.
