Requirements:

  • Agreement to stay on for a minimum of at least 1 full year, if prior experience in a snowboard shop/management is applicable. Agreement to stay on for at least 2 full years if there's limited prior experience in the position.
  • An Associates or Bachelors degree is preferred. Experience or related experience may be substituted for formal education.
  • Expert knowledge in the retail snowboard industry including labor, customer service, merchandizing, financial, people skills and inventory controls
  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years experience in retail for a company in retail ski, snowboard and skateboard industry
  • The ideal candidate also has to be an avid snowboarder
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to professionally deal with customers and employees
  • Ability to multitask and work in a high energy, fast paced retail setting, able to handle complaints with poise, remaining polite and professional during extensive process of challenges
  • Must work a full schedule for at least 5 days a week, including; evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • The Snowboard Manager should be able to delegate responsibilities; be able to objectively evaluate the performance of others; and be able to hold others accountable in a constructive manner.

Responsibilities:

  • The Snowboard Manager answers to the store manager and department general manager/buyer and oversees department operations in your specified location
  • The Snowboard Manager is responsible for maximizing store sales and profitability while ensuring that legendary customer service levels are achieved
  • Operations include, but are not limited to:
    • Ensuring your direct reports are trained and have everything they need in order to move product out the door and ensure customer satisfaction
    • Handling warranties and special orders
    • Handling customer complaints with poise and grace
    • Keeping up with services (tunes, mounts, binding work)
    • Ensuring the department is clean, orderly and merchandised well
    • Regular communication with the department's general manager and buyer to help coordinate sales promotion activities
  • The snowboard manager will be responsible for 5-10 direct reports in the wintertime
  • When the store switches from ski season to patio season, the snowboard manager will no longer have direct reports, rather they will be reporting to the store manager and helping with whatever needs to be done to ensure patio furniture is moving out the door
  • The snowboard manager is a key holder and helps supervise and engage with employees
  • Exceptional supervisory and management skills
  • Ability to effectively coach on store policies, protocols, and expectations
  • Leads by example and effectively drives the performance of team members
  • Able to stand 8 hours
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Position requires weekend availability
