Interim Principal- Elementary

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our team and to realize that mission.Position Objective: The Interim Assawompset Elementary School Principal fosters a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment aligned with the MA Curriculum Frameworks and FLRSD priorities. This position provides instructional leadership, promotes positive school culture and student behavior, supports effective teaching and learning through supervision and evaluation, and collaborates with staff, students, families, and community partners to ensure equitable outcomes and the social, emotional, and academic success of all learners.Leadership Competencies and SkillsInstructional behavior approaches for all learnersCurriculum and LearningTakes a leadership role in curriculum development and the review and revision processUtilizes results of assessments to inform curriculum development and instructional practice As a part of a team analyzes student data, reports significant trends, and makes recommendations for instructional growthAssists in planning and execution of professional development activitiesResearches and shares curricular and instructional theories and practices Understands research-based practices in instructionSupervision and Evaluation and Collaboration/CommunicationSupervises and evaluates staff in accordance with the FLRSDs Performance Evaluation SystemAssists teachers in classroom management concerns Encourages, assists and models for teachers, communication with families regarding learning and behaviorActively participates in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting personnelWorks collaboratively with school personnel to support teaching and learningCommunicates with school community members, in both proactive and reactive forms, regarding academic and behavioral mattersServes as a resource to community members, parents, staff and administrators, and studentsAttends and engages in meetings as assigned by the SuperintendentSocial and Civic Expectations/Behavior Supports students and staff in their adherence to Core ValuesEnforces schools student handbookCollaborates on updating policies and procedures/handbook revisionsAddresses student disciplinary occurrences and impediments to learning Utilizes outside services (CRA, DCF, etc.) when neededPresents social/civic and disciplinary data and its implications to stakeholdersManagement/ School Safety and SecuritySupervises common areas before, during, and after schoolSupervises daily attendance, as well as any other daily function as assigned by the SuperintendentAssumes responsibility for student attendance and tardiness Develops, reviews, revises, and rehearses school safety protocols including ALICE training General/ClimateEnhances and perpetuates a culture of acceptance and awareness for all students and staffSupports/Supervises, as needed, school sponsored activities Carries out the policies and directives of the Freetown Lakeville School Committee and is directly responsible to the Superintendent for their proper and effective executionPerforms any and all other duties as the Superintendent may direct that affect the safe, educational operation of the buildingRequired Qualifications Massachusetts certification as an Assistant Principal/Principal K-8 (or in the process of obtaining if certified candidates are unavailable)Masters degree and minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience (elementary school teaching is preferred) previous instructional and/or school supervisory experience preferred Salary & Terms of Employment: As determined by the Superintendent, commensurate with experience,
