Remote Cloud Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on and dependable Cloud Engineer to join the Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining AWS environments, supporting an ongoing lift-and-shift migration for non-priority systems while contributing to active remediation efforts across several immediate priority areas. You will work within a defined scope that includes resolving Azure dependencies, addressing Power BI integration requirements, remediating JSON database field issues, and supporting the migration of regression test suites to AWS - including scoping the additional storage and pipeline capacity required. This is a practitioner role for someone who thrives on structured execution, takes ownership of environment quality, and can navigate ambiguity in a migration context.

Skills and Requirements

2-4 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related platform/systems role

Hands-on experience building and maintaining AWS environments, including EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, and related services

Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent)

Familiarity with lift-and-shift migration patterns and the operational considerations of migrating workloads to AWS

Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, VPNs, load balancing, security groups)

Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, ECS, or EKS)

Proficiency with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows

Solid troubleshooting skills with a methodical, documentation-first approach to problem resolution

Experience working in a HIPAA-regulated or compliance-driven environment

On call expectation 1 week every 6 weeks will work 9 AM to 9 PM EST during US hours - AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect, or equivalent)

Experience migrating workloads from Azure to AWS, including dependency identification and remediation

Familiarity with SQL Server or PostgreSQL database environments, including JSON field handling

Experience with Power BI or similar BI tooling in a cloud-hosted context

Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and build/deploy automation (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)

Experience in healthcare IT or payer technology environments
