Compensation: $65K-$72K based on experience
The Beverage Manager is responsible for the oversight and administration of the club’s beverage program as well as assisting in the supervision of the a la carte restaurant. They are responsible for beverage operations, including interviewing, hiring, training, and supervision of staff. They further ensure efficient weekly scheduling of bartending staff and that all standards and traditions of the club are upheld. As a creative and imaginative leader, they ensure that our cocktail, wine, and beer programs are fresh and exciting for our membership.
As a hospitality-driven professional, they incorporate thoughtful and personalized touches for members and their guests during service periods. The position is member-facing and works diligently to meet and exceed member expectations. The club is a proud internal promoter and supports continuing education and professional growth. Compensation Range: $65K-$72k annually based on experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide a warm and welcoming environment for the Club’s members, their families and their guests.
- Daily walk through the restaurant and common spaces to ensure every room is properly set with beverage and service requirements.
- Train and oversee staff in the execution of the highest service standard to ensure total member satisfaction.
- Oversee daily dining room operations, including meal service and private event functions within the clubhouse.
- Leads daily pre-shift meetings.
- Ensure that bars are set up on time and with proper items as listed on the event writeups.
- Produce a daily to-do list for beverage and service staff as needed.
- Check par levels to ensure the appropriate amount of cut fruit/juices/syrups are prepared.
- Stock and organize storage areas as product is delivered or as needed.
- Scan event/consumption bars in and out or with the assistance of qualified staff members for event billing purposes.
- Ensure proper sanitation standards and documents are maintained.
- Order all necessary wine, beer, liquor and non-alcoholic items based on par levels.
- Review event write-ups and note staffing needs and special requests.
- Create weekly schedule for all beverage staff based on operations and weekly events; assign bartenders to specific functions, tasks and duties.
- Produce event pull sheets as needed.
- Draft and process billing statements from events.
- Ensure beverage outlets (e.g. Paddock (turn-hut), Golf Shop, Tennis Shop, Fitness, and the Stables Meeting Room) are stocked and chits are entered as needed.
- Tending bar and floor oversight if/as needed or assigned.
- Menu Planning-e.g. assisting with wine selections and seasonal cocktail changes.
- Work with distributors to taste and hear about new products/wines for the menu.
- Conduct month-end inventory and reporting.
- Update the Point-of-sale system when menus or wine list changes occur; ensure accurate information in POS (menu category, revenue codes, and pricing).
- Work with Dining Services Manager to plan a la carte staff wine education tastings.
- Assist with the development of the beverage program as a whole.
- Additional duties/projects as assigned by management.
Required Skills:
- 2+ years of prior restaurant, hospitality, or private club experience preferred.
- Advanced food, beverage and cocktail knowledge.
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment, while maintaining established food and beverage standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, and perform the essential functions of the job.
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- Ability to speak English conversationally.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, or holidays as scheduled.
Specialized Knowledge/Licenses Required:
- TIPS Certification
- WSET/Sommelier Certification
Uniform Requirements:
- Professional Attire
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend and reach for items off shelf, carry trays, and be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours
- Use touch screen POS system
