Position : Psychologist Supervisor

Schedule : 8 hours per week, On-site
POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervises students who see patients: for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Use talk therapy to treat patient illness or distress. Attends faculty meetings, conducts interviews, mentors, and conducts seminar.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
GOAL 1: TO PRODUCE A PSYCHOLOGY INTERNS WHO ARE TRAINED FOR AND COMPETENT IN PRACTICE IN THE ESSENTIAL SKILL AREAS OF CLINICAL/COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY
Objectives for Goal 1 :
(a) Train for practice in assessment and diagnosis;
(b) Train for practice in effective intervention;
(c) Train for practice in consultation and evaluation; and
(d) Train for practice of supervision.
GOAL 2: INTEGRATE SCIENTIFIC AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE, ATTITUDES, AND SKILLS
Objectives for Goal 2 :
(a) Train interns in systematic application of products of psychological research to practice;
(b) Expose interns to faculty role models of scientific practice;
(c) Promote the use of scientific thinking and methods in professional practice (e.g., critical thinking, a hypothesis-testing approach, operational definition of problems, systematic collection of information, use of valid assessments and intervention, communication of information; and
(d) Provide the opportunity (not requirement) to engage in formal research.
GOAL 3: INTEGRATION OF BASIC SCIENTIFIC PRACTICE WITH KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF ETHICAL AND PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
Objective for Goal 3:
Train interns in the integration of ethical and professional standards with practice.
GOAL 4: INTEGRATION OF BASIC SCIENTIFIC PRACTICE WITH KNOWLEDGE AND SENSITIVITY TO ISSUES OF INDIVIDUAL, CULTURAL AND ETHNIC DIVERSITY
Objectives for Goal 4:
(a) Train interns in knowledge base for individual, racial, cultural and ethnic diversity; and
(b) Train interns in placement specific and case specific sensitivity to diversity issues.
Other Duties:
- Adheres to departmental and institutional guidelines for universal precautions and safety policies.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties to comply with programmatic, departmental and institutional policies and procedures and to meet requirements of regulatory agencies.
- Participates in activities that promote professional development and understanding of current research and therapies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Must possess a Doctorate Degree in Psychology or Counseling Psychology or MD with psychiatry specialization.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED :
Licensed or eligible for licensure in Massachusetts within three months of hire.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have completed one year of an APA approved internship or APA approved residency and have at least 5 years full-time experience working as a psychologist or a psychiatrist.
Must have experience supervising students.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Be adept at diagnosing psychiatric disorders, including nature and extent, and be able to determine the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Uses talk therapy to treat patient illness or distress.
Be able to supervise students/trainees who evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
Analytical ability necessary to evaluate, diagnose, and plan clinical treatment programs for patients and families.
Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to inform and maintain effective psychotherapeutic relationships with patients, families, and groups, and to maintain cooperative instructional and work relationships with personnel from various disciplines.
Knowledge of community resources and agencies that serve the children and families.
Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of racial and ethnic populations.
Effective English language skills. Bicultural/Bilingual (Spanish) competency is a plus. Advanced interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills to enter and retrieve data.

Compensation Range:
$31.73- $46.15This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
