Diesel Technician / Fleet Mechanic
Job Description
Job Description
Description:
$38-$45/hr + Overtime Opportunities
Wind River Environmental is looking for experienced Diesel Technicians to help keep our hardworking fleet on the road and operating safely.
This is not a dealership environment with brand-new trucks and repetitive PM work. We operate a demanding fleet of vacuum trucks, pump trucks, roll-offs, and specialty equipment that supports essential environmental services operations across the region. The equipment works hard — and our mechanics do too.
We’re looking for mechanics who can troubleshoot independently, solve problems in the field and shop, and take pride in keeping critical equipment running. If you enjoy variety, autonomy, and hands-on work where your experience truly matters, we want to talk with you.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, air brake systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and emissions equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on medium and heavy-duty trucks and specialty equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and prioritize repairs to keep equipment operational
- Respond to road calls and breakdowns when needed
- Coordinate parts ordering and outside vendor repairs
- Document repairs and maintenance using Fleetio fleet management software
- Support fleet reliability and safety initiatives as we continue improving our maintenance operations
- Maintain compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in diesel, fleet, or heavy equipment maintenance
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
- Experience working on medium/heavy-duty trucks and hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (CDL preferred, but not required)
- Experience with fleet maintenance software preferred
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
What We Offer
- Competitive pay: $38-$45/hr based on experience
- Consistent overtime opportunities
- Stable, year-round full-time work
- Company-paid uniforms
- Annual boot stipend
- Company-paid DOT medical card renewals
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Company-paid life insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid holidays and generous PTO
- Employee discounts on services
- Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding company
Why Join Wind River Environmental?
We know skilled mechanics are hard to find — and good mechanics keep operations moving. We’re continuing to invest in our fleet operations, maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and team growth. This role is ideal for a mechanic who wants to make an impact, help improve standards, and be part of building a stronger operation over time. Your experience and judgment will matter here.
