Salary Range (Estimated): $185,000 – $215,000 + performance-based bonus
Position Overview
A nationally recognized labor and employment law firm with more than 1,000 attorneys across major U.S. markets is seeking a Labor Associate to join its Boston office. The firm is consistently ranked in the First Tier nationally for Labor & Employment Litigation and Management-side Employment & Labor Law.
The role is primarily focused on traditional labor work representing employers, with additional opportunities to provide advice and counsel on federal and Massachusetts workplace laws. The position will also involve supporting due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and working closely with clients on sophisticated labor relations matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all aspects of traditional labor relations for employers, including:
- Managing unfair labor practice charges before the NLRB
- Representing management in NLRB elections
- Advising on union organizing, corporate campaigns, card check, and neutrality agreements
- Negotiating and advising on collective bargaining agreements
- Providing guidance on contract administration and grievance issues
- Handling arbitrations and unfair labor practice proceedings
- Securing mass picketing injunctions
- Advise employers on federal and Massachusetts workplace compliance, including:
- Wage and hour issues
- Leave laws
- Disability accommodation
- General labor and employment compliance
- Review and draft handbooks, policies, forms, compensation structures, commission plans, and bonus plans
- Conduct management training on labor relations, compliance, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation
- Assist with due diligence evaluations for corporate transactions
- Perform research, legal writing, and other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Minimum 5 years of traditional labor law experience preferred
- Massachusetts Bar admission required
- Understanding of federal and state labor and employment agency procedures
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
- High attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
- Willingness to travel as needed for hearings, negotiations, and client work
