Nurse Flow Manager - Perianesthesia
Brigham and Women’s Hospital, part of Mass General Brigham, is seeking a Perianesthesia Flow Manager (PACU) to oversee and optimize patient flow within a high-volume, complex Post Anesthesia Care Unit. This leadership role is critical in ensuring efficient transitions between the Operating Room, procedural areas, and PACU while maintaining high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
You will serve as a key decision-maker and liaison between nursing leadership, anesthesia, surgeons and hospital administration to ensure optimal utilization of resources and safe, timely patient throughput.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate patient flow to and from the PACU to ensure operational efficiency
– Maintain a visible, on-unit leadership presence throughout the shift
– Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, nursing leadership and hospital administration
– Ensure optimal staffing utilization while minimizing overtime and excess resource use
– Monitor and maintain accuracy of scheduling systems (Epic) in coordination with IT
– Plan and secure additional staffing resources as needed within budget guidelines
– Support compliance with departmental and organizational policies
– Foster a positive, team-oriented environment focused on high morale and performance
– Build and maintain strong relationships with ancillary departments
– Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required (BSN); MSN preferred
- Active RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Strong knowledge of perianesthesia operations and patient flow management
- Charge nurse or leadership experience preferred
- Ability to make sound clinical and operational decisions in high-pressure environments
- Commitment to ongoing clinical education and professional development

Work Environment
- High-acuity, high-volume perioperative environment
– Underground clinical setting with no natural light
– Potential exposure to infectious diseases
– Requires continuous presence and active engagement during shift
Compensation
$81,473.60 – $157,851.20 annually
Final compensation is determined based on experience, education, certifications and other relevant factors. Additional benefits, differentials and advancement opportunities are included.
