Family Support Worker
*FSA is offering a $1,000 sign on bonus for this position*
We are currently searching for a full time (40 hours per week) Family Support Worker (FSW) for our Family Resource Center (FRC). The FSW provides information and educational resources to family members in addition to providing referrals to community resources. The hourly rate is $19.75 w/ an additional $1 for bilingual language capacity. The hours are Monday through Friday - three days from 8:30am - 5pm, two days from 11:30-7pm, and two Saturdays from 9-1 per month. The hours are flexible to accommodate the nights and Saturday needs of the families we support.
The FRC is a community-based, culturally competent program that provides evidence-based parent education groups, information and referral, mentoring, educational support and other opportunities for children and families. The FRC also provides services specific to Children Requiring Assistance who are having serious problems at home and at school, including runaways, truants, and sexually exploited children.
Responsibilities include:
- Develops the FRC calendar and hosts parent and Youth Support groups.
- Responsible for recruiting and providing support to volunteers who shall lead specialized support groups as needed.
- Follow up with the family members or providers within two weeks of referral to ensure that the family members were able to access services referred by the FRC.
- The FSW shall also ask family members to complete a Family Satisfaction Survey.
- FSW may participate on a phone call to a Network Services provider or physically accompany the Family Members to a location where the services are available offsite.
Ability to establish working relationships with clinical, administrative, and support staff in order to develop professionalism and coordination within the team to maximize services available.
Ability to effectively interact with staff, consumers, family members, administration and the community, both in person and on the telephone.
Maintain all ethical and legal requirements of the Agency.
Focuses on understanding and meeting family needs.
- Maintains positive work relationships in a respectful and collaborative manner.
- Maintains good communication with others ensuring others have necessary information.
- Actively works toward organizational improvement and professional growth.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends to meet the needs of the program.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of experience working with children and families is required.
- Must possess excellent communication skills (oral and written) as well as strong organizational skills; computer literacy required.
- Experience in navigating any of the child and family-serving systems and teaching family members who are involved with the child and family serving systems.
