POSITION TITLE: Full-Time Faculty - Environmental Technology (Clean Water/Drinking Water) (10 Month; Tenure-Track; Open Rank - Assistant Professor or Associate Professor)
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, tenure track, MCCC unit position with benefits. The title of this position will be Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor, depending on the selected candidate's experience.
LOCATION: Fall River, but courses may also be offered in online, hybrid, or face-to-face modalities in Attleboro, New Bedford, and/or Taunton.
STARTING DATE: Academic Year 2026-2027
SALARY: $57,289 - $74,369 - actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Environmental Technology - Full-time faculty position will teach a full-time (15 credit hours per semester) schedule of Environmental Technology and Environmental Science courses, which may include, but are not
limited to, the list found online in our Academic Catalog ( This position also develops curriculum/course material for the A.S. in Engineering Technology (Environmental) Program and offers student support through varied interactions. Full-Time faculty will engage in a critical role in the teaching and learning process, contributing to student learning outcomes and success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach a full-time (15 credit hours per semester) schedule of Environmental Technology and Environmental Science courses.
- Facilitate hands-on laboratory experiences with students in our Wastewater Treatment laboratory spaces/Blue Center for Water Treatment facilities.
- Assess student learning and assign grades through equitable and inclusive pedagogies and assessment strategies.
- Complete required trainings such as, but not limited to, Title IX, FERPA, and Information Security.
- Teaching in face-to-face as well as hybrid, and online modalities.
- Adhere to workload as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including duties such as, but not limited to, developing curricula to address course and student learning outcomes and General Education competencies as appropriate, completing book orders, creating syllabi, verifying student enrollment, and submitting final grades by the contractual deadline.
- Foster student success across the college's diverse student body, and address equity gaps, through innovative teaching and learning approaches as well as curriculum development.
- Incorporate High-Impact Practices (HIPs) into curricular and pedagogical approaches, with emphasis on HIPs that provide students with real-world experiences such as Service-Learning and internship opportunities.
- Serve as academic advisor to assigned students.
- Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week.
- Develop appropriate discipline-related courses.
- Serve on college committees as elected or appointed.
- Attend program, department, academic area, all-college and committee/council meetings.
- Recommend suitable instructional material, textbooks, and library acquisitions.
- Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes.
- Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues, to teach online as needed, and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate.
- Engage in professional development activities through participation in conferences, workshops, seminars, and professional associations to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom.
- Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.

- Actively participate in the general college community and fulfill duties as stipulated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Job Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
Must include the following:
- Minimum MA Grade 5 Combined Wastewater Operator Certification (or equivalent certification)
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Sanitary, Environmental Science, Bacteriology, Mechanical).
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience in credit-bearing courses at the college level or equivalent industry training experience.
- For candidates with a Bachelor's degree, Wastewater Operator Certification is required.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.
- MA Grade 3 Drinking Water Certification (or equivalent certification from another state).
- Proven technological proficiency, which includes Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Sanitary, Environmental Science, Bacteriology, Mechanical).
- MA Grade 6 Combined Wastewater Operator Certification or higher (or equivalent certification from another state).
- Minimum MA Grade 4 Drinking Water Certification (or equivalent certification from another state).
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the Community College level or as a facilitator or trainer in a municipal or industrial wastewater treatment facility.
- Experience using High Impact Practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Canvas or another Learning Management System.
- Demonstrated experience developing and teaching curricula in asynchronous online and hybrid formats that incorporate universal design principles.
- Experience in community college teaching, advising, and/or curriculum development.
- Demonstrated versatility in teaching a range of courses offered in Environmental Technology/Science.
- Evidence of scholarly work in Environmental Technology/Science.
- Demonstrated commitment to closing equity gaps.
- Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
