Senior Billing Specialist POST NUMBER: 466545
We are seeking a Senior Billing & Accounts Specialist to manage invoicing, payment collection, and financial oversight for a varied portfolio of sponsored projects. This position also provides guidance and operational support to team members and contributes to smooth cash?management workflows.
Responsibilities
- Oversee billing and collections activities for sponsored projects, ensuring accurate invoicing, timely payment follow?up, and proper account reconciliation.
- Review account activity regularly, partnering with internal departments and external partners to resolve billing discrepancies while maintaining strong working relationships.
- Interpret award documents to determine billing requirements and submit invoices through multiple electronic platforms.
- Work with leadership on strategic initiatives, perform detailed data analysis, and support ongoing improvements to departmental processes and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- 5–8 years of professional experience, ideally in a research, academic, or customer?service?oriented environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to both routine and urgent needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical problem?solving capabilities.
- Proactive and diplomatic, with experience guiding others and improving processes.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including use of complex formulas for data review and analysis.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small, supportive team.
