Role Description
This is a part-time (per diem) position with significant growth potential as our business expands. You'll provide comprehensive postpartum doula services, newborn care, lactation support, and care coordination, while helping us build and refine our service delivery model. Your responsibilities include creating personalized care plans, offering emotional and physical support, and coordinating with healthcare providers to ensure exceptional postpartum care.
Service Area: This position serves families throughout Central Massachusetts, including MetroWest, Worcester County, and the Greater Boston region. The role requires travel for in-home postpartum visits and the ability to provide virtual telehealth support.
Travel Requirements : This position requires in-person visits to client homes and appointments, with driving distances of up to 30-40 miles one way. While administrative tasks can be completed remotely, the core doula services are provided in-person at client locations.
Working Hours: Postpartum support will be provided during daytime hours or nighttime hours based on the request and needs of the birthing parent.
Core Responsibilities
- Maternal Recovery: Support for physical healing from birth (including C-sections) and emotional well-being
- Infant Care Support: Assistance with feeding (breast, bottle, formula), soothing techniques, diapering, naps, and normal newborn development
- Household Help: Light tidying, meal prep, doing dishes, laundry, and running errands to allow parents to rest
- Family & Sibling Support: Helping older children adjust, managing family dynamics, and supporting partners
- Education & Resources: Providing evidence-based information on maternal recovery, newborn care, feeding, and family adjustment
- Care Coordination: Connecting families with other resources and healthcare professionals (lactation consultants, pelvic floor therapists, mental health therapists, etc.) as needed
- Documentation & Charting: Maintaining accurate, timely records of client visits, care provided, and family progress
- Strategic Care Improvement: Identifying postpartum care gaps and opportunities for service improvement; contributing insights to enhance support models and better serve families

Compensation Structure & Benefits
- Hourly rate : $35/hour - $85/hour (based on the reimbursement received for doula support from payer)
- Total Number of Hours : Up to 10 hours per week (with potential to become 20 hours per week in the future). This is a part-time per diem role.
- Mentoring & Coaching: You will be provided with additional training, coaching, and mentorship opportunities through our programs and experienced postpartum doulas (as needed).

Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Professional training : Postpartum doula training and certifications from recognized organizations (DONA, CAPPA, etc.) is a necessary qualification.
- Core expertise : Demonstrated skills in postpartum doula services, newborn care, and lactation support
- Intellectual curiosity and learning agility : Genuine fascination with maternal anatomy, physiology, and evidence-based postpartum care practices; eager to continuously learn and stay current with research in maternal and infant health
- Reliable transportation : Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel to client locations (up to 30-40 miles one way)
- Communication excellence : Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with families
- Independent work style : Ability to manage client relationships and travel logistics autonomously
- Education: High-school diploma or equivalent required
- Language Skills: English fluency required; Spanish fluency or professional proficiency strongly preferred
