The Department of Youth Services (DYS) is the juvenile justice agency for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We work with young people who are detained or committed and provide detention, custody, diagnosis, education, and support to young people ages 12-21. Most of the youth served are between the ages of 14 and 21. The Department promotes positive change for the youth committed to our care and has been on the forefront of de-institutionalization, in part, by providing adolescent-focused rehabilitation to youth in residential treatment.

The Department of Youth Services employs staff in various professions and backgrounds in order to engage young people in strategies that support positive youth development.

We are seeking an energetic, positive and dynamic Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) for the role of Clinical Administrator (Clinical Social Worker D) at Worcester Secure Treatment located at 288 Lyman Street, Westborough, MA 01581.

The incumbent of this position will primarily work with male identified adolescents and young adults. The Clinical Administrator will provide clients with clinical social work services in order to promote and maintain maximum psychosocial functioning; function as integral members of multidisciplinary treatment teams; perform intake functions; organize and coordinate the provision of clinical services for a unit; perform diagnostic evaluations, develop and implement treatment, rehabilitation, crisis, transfer, and/or discharge plans; prepare professional documentation; develop and evaluate programs; provide treatment and psychotherapy to individuals or groups.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Provide advocacy; supervise staff; provide consultation and education.
  • Ensure that the clinical profiles are up-to-date and accurate for each youth in the program.
  • Update Regional Clinical Coordinator or Regional Clinician on youth with mental health concerns, complex histories, and complex treatment needs.
  • Become certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy within six months of hire by completing a training provided by the Department.
  • Lead/Co-lead and oversee therapy groups including: The Dialectical Behavioral Therapy groups (DBT), Substance Abuse Prevention, Substance Abuse Treatment, and Offender groups.
  • Provide/Oversee crisis interventions, therapeutic support, individual therapy, and/or family therapy.
  • Oversee treatment planning for committed youth and/or therapeutic support for detained youth.
  • Ensure that all clinical documentation is completed as required.
  • Refer youth for psychiatric consultation.
  • Serve as a liaison with emergency mental health services network for clients requiring screening for acute psychiatric hospitalization.
  • Provide data to Regional Clinical Coordinator or Regional Clinician.
  • Function as a key member of the program’s management team
  • Work with the Program Administrator to identify staff needs and, in conjunction with the Program Administrator and/or Regional Clinical Coordinator or Regional Clinician, design staff training programs.
  • As part of the program management team, conduct reviews of the behavioral management system and client advocate system and implement any necessary changes or modifications.
  • Provide supervision to clinicians.
  • Participate in monthly Clinical Administrator meetings.
  • Meet with the Regional Clinical Coordinator and/or Regional Clinician on a regular basis.
  • Support family engagement/involvement.
  • Provides Staff Training as needed; and performs other related work as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with adolescents, families and/or juvenile offenders.
  • Experience in residential settings.
  • Experience with crisis stabilization and management
  • Knowledge of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and/or Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Strong clinical and organizational skills
  • Administrative supervision experience.
  • Clinical supervision experience.
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Outlook, and MS Excel.
  • Clinical Psychology Licensure or LICSW licensure.

Shift : Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week. Typical schedule is 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though schedules can be flexed later with approval) Days Off: Saturday and Sunday

Candidates will be required to work one (1) late night per week (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) and one weekend day per month

Transportation Requirement: Must have reliable transportation.

Minimum Age Requirement: 21 years

Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: At least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a clinical social worker after earning a Master's degree in social work. Based on assignment to second-level supervisory positions, at least one year of experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.


SUBSTITUTIONS:



  • A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required nonsupervisory experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.

  • No substitution will be permitted for the required supervisory experience. One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:


A Master's or higher degree in social work is required.


LICENSES:



  • Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required.

  • Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
