What You Will Do
Working under targeted direction, you will be responsible for selling Johnson Controls’ Security and Integrated Systems solutions specifically within the corrections and prison market . Your primary customers will be prison administrators, facilities directors, and security leadership teams responsible for the safe and efficient operation of correctional institutions.
You will promote the Johnson Controls value proposition by delivering technical solutions, operational insights, and long‑term strategies tailored to the unique security, compliance, and operational needs of correctional facilities. You will cultivate and manage strong, enduring relationships with key accounts across the corrections vertical, ensuring customer satisfaction while expanding our footprint within each institution.
Your role includes prospecting, qualifying, and closing new opportunities; influencing system specifications; and consistently achieving monthly sales results. You will work to broaden the adoption of Johnson Controls technology and services—such as access control, perimeter security, video surveillance, detention control systems, and integrated security platforms—across each correctional customer.
How You Will Do It
Develop Deep Partnerships in the Corrections Market
Build trusted relationships with prison administrators, operations leadership, and facility security teams to increase adoption of our corrections‑focused Security and Integrated Systems solutions.Maintain Frequent On‑Site Engagement
Visit correctional facilities regularly to understand day‑to‑day challenges, listen to stakeholder concerns, identify operational risks, and position JCI offerings that enhance safety, compliance, and efficiency. Establish credibility through industry knowledge and familiarity with corrections‑specific requirements.Drive Favorable Specifications Across Projects
Work with contractors and detention-equipment integrators to bid full‑scope security and detention‑control projects. Partner with consulting engineers and architects specializing in corrections design to influence specifications toward Johnson Controls solutions.
With owner accounts—state prisons, county jails, and federal facilities—advocate for standards that align with JCI’s technology portfolio.Communicate Progress and Escalate as Needed
Keep leadership informed of account developments, project status, and sales pipeline updates. Seek managerial support to keep complex corrections projects moving smoothly.Demonstrate Technical and Vertical Expertise
Apply strong knowledge of security systems, detention controls, life‑safety requirements, and correctional operational workflows. Translate facility needs into clearly defined system specifications and proposals that highlight the value Johnson Controls brings to prison environments.Qualify Opportunities and Collaborate Internally
Assess and evaluate potential corrections accounts under guidance. Collaborate with team members across business units, ensuring proper credit assignment and sharing leads that support broader Johnson Controls initiatives.Partner with Operations to Ensure Excellence
Maintain active communication with internal operations, project delivery teams, and administrative staff to ensure installations and services fully meet correctional customer expectations, addressing issues efficiently and professionally.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $89,000 - $125,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role also offers a competitive Sales Incentive Plan that will take into account volume and margin on a project, quarterly, and annual basis. This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
