Associate Director, Planned Giving
Overview
The Associate Director raises deferred and outright gifts from individuals and families for Dana-Farber priorities in research and care across Dana-Farber. The position is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of 150+ planned giving prospects. Responsible for assisting the entire Division reach financial goals. Reports to a Senior Director, Planned Giving.
The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences.

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

Responsibilities
- Meet quarterly and annual key performance indicators and fundraising goals as determined by the Senior Director and Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Planned Giving
- Solicit 7-9 prospects per month to become members of the Dana-Farber Society by including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Jimmy Fund in their wills or trusts, beneficiary designations, or by establishing life income gifts; with a focus on utilizing blended giving opportunities when appropriate to maximize support.
- Recruit 85 Dana-Farber Society members each year;
- Conduct 8-10 donor visits monthly;
- Close $3M in planned gift expected value;
- Close 5+ charitable gift annuities annually;
- Act as first touch point for unassigned donors identified via PG inquiries
- Keep current with and be able to convey information about highlights and initiatives at Dana-Farber and planned giving vehicles;
- Develop a working knowledge of the ClearView fundraising database and track prospect and donor activity in ClearView database; provide activity and revenue reports as requested;
- Utilize mail, phone, email for solicitation or cultivation as appropriate;
- Coordinate with Prospect Research team to provide donor profile information as needed;
- Travel to represent Dana-Farber as needed;
- Generate and distribute call reports.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will share supervision of one Assistant.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required plus 6-8 years of relevant work experience. Development/philanthropy experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and managerial capabilities, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks also required. Fundraising experience in a healthcare setting a plus. Ability to communicate and work with people of all levels. Must exercise significant judgment and confidentiality in working with prospects, volunteers and Institute staff. Some travel and evening and weekend work will be required. Microsoft Office Suite familiarity necessary.
