Hoyle Tanner has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer in our Ground Transportation Division. You will be part of a large team of transportation design professionals who are committed to their craft and sharing their knowledge base with their team. You will work on delivering state agency and municipal roadway, traffic, drainage, and safety design. Location: Chelmsford, MA
A short 27 miles from Boston, our office is centrally located just south of the confluence of US Route 3, Route 495, and the Lowell Connector, with a stop along the MBTA’s Lowell bus route 15, and a short drive from the Lowell and Billerica commuter rail stops. This office is located along the developing Route 129 corridor in Chelmsford.
Job responsibilities:
- Have a primary role in an integrated, multi-discipline team that solves technical challenges on projects of significant scope, size and difficulty
- Complete assignments accurately and on time with limited direction from the Project Manager
- Develop an understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, project schedule and provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager in maintaining schedule and budget
- Understand the client's organization, key people, and client expectations
- Share best practices to improve performance and efficiency of self and team
- Develop person-hour estimates and budgets with guidance from senior staff
- Lead small team for moderately complex projects
- Assist in proposal efforts and development
- Provide coaching, mentoring and feedback to develop entry-level and staff engineers, peers and others as needed
- Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients/contractors
- Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills for deliverables, proposals, and presentation in a public setting (for clients or at seminars/conferences)
Qualified Candidates:
- BSCE Degree required, MSCE preferred
- 5 - 10 years of relevant experience
- Current PE in NH, MA, ME, or VT
- Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, VTrans or MassDOT highway projects
- Proficient in Microstation, AutoCAD, HydroCAD, Civil 3D, ArcView, In Roads, WORD, Excel, and MS Project
- Salary is contingent on experience
