CSR serves approximately 6,000 families across Massachusetts through four key service areas: Early Education and Care, Behavioral Health Services, Youth and Family Services, and Housing and Stabilization.
About YPP (Youth, Purpose, and Partnership)
Youth, Purpose, and Partnership (YPP) is a peer leadership program that engages youth in storytelling and digital media to foster community dialogue, skill-building, and citywide change. Peer Leaders use multimedia tools (e.g. podcasting, film production, and in-person dialogues/events) to educate, inspire, and shape narratives that reflect their vision for the community.
Summary
Under the guidance of the Digital Storytelling Lead Educator, The Digital Media Assistant will support the YPP program by guiding Peer Leaders (ages 14-18) in digital storytelling and media production. Under the supervision of YPP leadership staff, the assistant will help facilitate curriculum activities, mentor youth in multimedia techniques, and maintain a structured learning environment.
YPP's school year program runs approximately 24 weeks between October and May*; summer program runs 6-8 weeks for the Peer Leaders. Candidates for the Digital Media Assistant role must be available to start no later than June 23, 2025 . Digital Media Assistants are paid $20/hour and work a maximum of 15 hours a week during the school year and a maximum of 25 hours a week during the summer. School year schedule: Monday - Friday 4:30pm-7:30pm; Summer schedule: Mondays from 9:30am-11:30am; Tuesday-Friday 9:00am - 3:30pm*

Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and delivering digital storytelling workshops, focusing on film projects, podcasting, and multimedia narratives.
- Support Peer Leaders in learning and using video/audio editing software, photography techniques, and graphic design tools.
- Provide mentorship and one-on-one guidance during creative sessions and media production.
- Manage and maintain digital equipment, ensuring accessibility for Peer Leaders.
- Offer feedback on youth-led projects to encourage skill development and creative expression.
- Organize portfolio management and digital asset curation for student work.
- Supervise media-related activities during field trips and off-site projects.
- Participate in staff training, professional development sessions, and program events.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative learning environment.
Required Qualifications
- Background in digital media, storytelling, communication, film, or a related field.
- Experience with multimedia editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Canva).
- Experience operating video equipment (Mirrorless cameras, DSLRs, or film cameras).
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with high school or college-age students in a mentorship role.
- Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to a dynamic learning environment.
