Project Manager, Mechanical
Got it. Here is a corrected public facing posting that positions this clearly as a Project Manager role , while making it explicit that prior PM experience is not required. It sells credibility, flexibility, and long term upside without naming the firm or mentioning compensation.
Mechanical Project Manager
Boston Area | Hybrid Flexibility
A well established MEP consulting firm is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to lead complex building systems projects across healthcare, higher education, and industrial facilities.
This role is open to a Mechanical Engineer with a PE license who has strong technical design experience and is ready to step fully into a Project Manager position. Prior PM title experience is not required. Engineers who have led projects informally or want their first official PM role will be supported with structure, mentorship, and resources.
The role
• Serve as the primary mechanical project lead from concept through construction
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Manage scope, schedule, and budgets
• Act as the main point of contact for clients and internal teams
• Oversee technical quality and design intent
Why this role stands out
• True Project Manager title and responsibility
• Flexible hybrid work environment
• Supportive leadership and realistic project workloads
• Exposure to technically complex and meaningful projects
• Long term growth with leadership and ownership potential
Background they are seeking
• BS in Mechanical Engineering
• Professional Engineer license
• Five or more years of mechanical design experience
• Experience with HVAC and complex building systems
• Comfort leading projects and working directly with clients
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and load calculation tools
This is an opportunity to step into a PM seat without being expected to already have every box checked. The firm values engineering judgment, communication, and accountability over titles.
If you are a Mechanical PE ready to formalize your move into project management, this is worth a closer look.
