Position: Assistant Market Manager
Report to: Karina Cornejo Arce
Schedule: 40-hour-a-week, full-time, Monday-Friday, evenings and weekends as required
Location: 47 Leavitt Street, Salem MA
Salary: $23 to $25 per hour

The Salem Pantry (TSP), a leading food access organization on the North Shore, is seeking an Assistant Market Manager to assist in managing daily store operations and assisting guests with SNAP applications. The Assistant Market Manager plays a key role in ensuring that the program delivers fresh and healthy food to diverse communities with efficiency, reliability, and dignity.
Responsibilities:
Market Operations
· Assist the Market Manager in the day-to-day operations and overall performance of The Market.
· Open, close, and manage The Market in the manager’s absence.
· Supervise the Market Associate and volunteer teams.
· Provide SNAP assistance to guests, including applications and record maintenance.
· Administer a portion of the customer relations software.
· Oversee pest control.
· Follow the cleaning checklist to maintain store cleanliness and appearance.
· Oversee daily temperature control recordings of all freezers and refrigerators.
Organizational Engagement
· Attend regular “all-team” meetings and actively contribute to program planning and review discussions
· Collaborate with staff across departments to support organizational goals and initiatives
· Assist with additional tasks or organizational needs when requested
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk, and use tools or controls. The employee must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
The employee will work in a retail environment.

Knowledge and Previous Experience
· Prior experience with grocery or food distribution operations preferred.
· Bilingual in English and Spanish required
· 1–3 years of grocery or retail experience. · Proficiency with technology, including inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite, preferred.
Skills and Abilities
· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set priorities, track projects, and meet deadlines.
· Excellent interpersonal communication skills and energy for engaging with people of all backgrounds.
· Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
