Vaco by Highspring has partnered with a rapidly growing logistics organization in the Greater Boston area and they are looking to hire a Director of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all financial planning and analysis activities, including annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-range planning
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and operational reporting packages
• Partner with executive leadership to provide strategic financial guidance and support key business initiatives
• Monitor company performance metrics including revenue, gross margin, fuel costs, labor utilization, fleet performance, and EBITDA
• Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and banking relationships
• Develop and maintain KPI dashboards focused on operational efficiency and profitability
• Analyze transportation routes, customer profitability, and cost trends to identify improvement opportunities
• Support pricing strategy, contract analysis, and customer bid processes
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, tax requirements, and audit standards
• Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting team members
• Assist with ERP/system enhancements and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 7 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
• Prior experience within logistics, supply chain, distribution, or related industries strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of operational finance and cost accounting in asset-intensive environments
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and KPI reporting
• Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with operations and executive leadership teams
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Multi-site or multi-entity operational experience
• Experience working in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment
• Knowledge of fleet management metrics, fuel analysis, and transportation cost structures
• Experience improving processes, reporting capabilities, and financial controls
