Plant Care Specialist / Horticulturist POST NUMBER: 481455

Position Overview
A growing landscape and horticultural services company is seeking an experienced Plant Care Specialist / Horticulturist to join its field operations team. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining the health, appearance, and long-term success of residential and commercial landscape plantings. The ideal candidate is passionate about plants, possesses strong horticultural knowledge, and enjoys working outdoors while delivering high-quality landscape maintenance and installation services. Candidates should be comfortable leading small crews, identifying plant health issues, and providing exceptional service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform horticultural maintenance including pruning, deadheading, weeding, edging, mulching, fertilizing, and seasonal cleanups
- Identify trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses, and other landscape plants
- Diagnose plant health issues, including pests, diseases, and environmental stressors, and recommend appropriate treatments
- Install trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and other plant materials according to site plans and project specifications
- Read and interpret landscape plans, planting plans, and design drawings
- Lead and mentor field team members while maintaining quality and productivity standards
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding landscape conditions, recommendations, and project updates
- Monitor landscape health and proactively identify maintenance needs
- Apply horticultural treatments in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in safe and organized condition
Qualifications
- 3 years of horticulture, gardening, landscape maintenance, or related experience
- Strong plant identification skills and working knowledge of ornamental landscape materials
- Experience with planting, pruning, and landscape maintenance best practices
- Ability to identify and address common pest and disease issues
- Experience leading or supervising field crews preferred
- Ability to read and interpret landscape and planting plans
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical labor
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus
