Med/Surg RN Job Details – Boston, MA

• Location: Boston, MA 02118 (Massachusetts nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel/Contract Registered Nurse)
• Healthcare Setting: Acute inpatient Med/Surg unit
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• End Date: November 22, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 10-hour day shifts (4x10 hour shifts per week)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend Requirement: Every 6th weekend
• Holiday Requirement: No major holidays required
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2,470 - $2,540

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Minimum 3 years of recent medical-surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience
• Strong clinical knowledge of current Med/Surg best practices and acute inpatient care
• Expertise in assessing physical and mental impairment, illness characteristics, and treatment plans
• Understanding of healthcare benefits, plan contracts, and eligibility requirements
• Preferred: 5+ years of Utilization Management (UM) and Case Management (CM) experience
• Preferred: Experience with EPIC EMR (Electronic Medical Records)
• Preferred: CCM (Certified Case Manager) or related certification

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate patient care options and services
• Provide clinical support for 18-22 patients on the Menino Campus, ensuring quality and cost-effective outcomes
• Manage patient needs, monitor length of stay, and promote efficient utilization of healthcare resources
• Determine medical necessity and appropriateness of admission using InterQual screening and Medicare inpatient criteria
• Coordinate discharge planning and optimize patient care transitions
