Fundraising Program Consultant

Boston, MA

Are you interested in part-time, contract fundraising opportunity for Gifford Cat Shelter, the country’s oldest free-roam, no-kill shelter?

Gifford Cat Shelter is seeking an experienced Fundraising Program Consultant to manage the hands‑on, day‑to‑day operations of its development activities. This role is responsible for executing all aspects of the fundraising operation—including developing and implementing an annual fundraising plan and multi-channel campaigns, managing data and CRM systems, and prospect management best practices to support the Executive Director as the organization’s frontline fundraiser. The consultant will also partner closely with the Executive Director and Shelter Director on implementing annual events designed to discover new prospects, deepen donor engagement, and raise critical funds.

The position offers remote work flexibility with occasional on-site presence at the Gifford Cat Shelter in Brighton, MA.

Interested candidates should submit their resume and cover letter outlining their relevant experience and approach to fundraising program management.

Gifford looks forward to welcoming a dedicated professional to help them grow their fundraising impact and support their mission.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a 12-month fundraising roadmap covering all revenue streams including annual fund, monthly giving, grants, events, corporate partnerships, digital campaigns, and major gifts.
  • Define fundraising goals, segmentation strategies, timelines, and revenue projections.
  • Manage campaign and communications calendars, including monthly and quarterly revenue forecasts.
  • Maintain donor data integrity, CRM management, and generate timely reports and dashboards.
  • Oversee gift entry, acknowledgment processes, and gift reconciliation with finance.
  • Coordinate appeal production, email fundraising campaigns, and recurring giving programs.
  • Manage donor stewardship activities, including communications, recognition, and event follow-up.
  • Optimize digital fundraising channels and maintain fundraising-related web content.
  • Support grant application processes and reporting.
  • Manage event operations including registration, ticketing, and post-event reporting.
  • Oversee systems, processes, and vendor relationships related to fundraising operations.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify donor upgrade opportunities.
  • This is primarily a back-office role, supporting the Executive Director/Board Members who handle donor-facing responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional fundraising experience, with at least 5 years in development operations or fundraising program management.
  • Proven experience in building and managing comprehensive fundraising operating plans.
  • Advanced proficiency with Bloomerang CRM and related fundraising tools.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with small to mid-size nonprofits
  • Estimated 40–60 hours per month.
