Project Manager / Project Architect
Reporting to:
Principal-in-Charge of Design
Responsibilities:
- Understand all aspects of the client brief (program) and design direction set by the principal-in-charge
- Prepare and develop required drawings, models, images and other documents relating to the design
- Assist and further advance the design direction set by the Principal-in-Charge
- Liaise, where appropriate, with client reps and external members of the design and engineering team
- Manage, maintain and organize all project documentation (e.g.: drawings, project binders, photography, and Basecamp information) per MMA Project Directory (MMA-PD) and enforce ‘project standards’ relating to all information for members of the project team
- Attend and conduct project design and construction phase team meetings, record all meeting minutes, and manage all required follow-through tasks
- Prepare for and attend all required governmental regulatory and design review meetings, assisting the principal-in-charge in delivery of presentations, or in his absence, deliver such presentations
- Manage and schedule all project deliverables across all phases; estimate time and staff requirements and report to Principal-in-Charge
- Monitor RFI’s for technical and design queries across all phases of the work; manage all RFI responses
- Manage the submittals process: orchestrate submittals process through GC-selected software tools (eg: Procore) or setup, implement, and manage the process through MMA digital tools (eg: PlanGrid, Basecamp)
- Manage and mentor all junior level team members; manage and provide guidance to all assisting team members both internal and external to the MMA team.
- Fulfill the practice’s overall objective in producing first-class architecture on time and on budget with accurate, well-organized, and intelligently conceived, contract drawings and specification deliverables
- Contribute and otherwise assist, as required
Qualities and Skills Required:
- A Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture or equivalent
- Licensed architect or non-licensed registered graduate with 10+ years experience
- Able to demonstrate the ability to undertake the above responsibilities
- Candidate must be able to take direction from the principle-in-charge and complete project management tasks in an organized and efficient manner
- Excellent organizational skills, accurate and attentive to detail; able to adhere to firm organizational standards
- Excellent communication skills: written and verbal — articulate and diplomatic manner
- Excellent interpersonal skills: good relationship building skills, internally and externally
- Ability to communicate effectively to clients and review boards
- Fluent in the English language, both written and spoken
- Proficiency in a CAD or BIM application for deliverables of construction documentation (min. 5 years experience)
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel or Google Document equivalents
- Effective drawing skills
- Punctual and reliable
- Flexible Attitude
Desirable:
- Experience using Nemetschek Vectorworks Architect CAD/BIM software (our platform)
- Experience using SketchUp, Rhino, formZ or other 3D modeling software, including renderers
- Experience using online project management tools such as PlanGrid, Procore, BIM 360, Trimble Connect, Bluebeam Revu, et cetera
- Ability to use some of the following: AutoCAD, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Pages, Numbers, Asana, Harvest, Bluebeam, Google Documents
- Proficiency on both Windows and Mac
