Real Pickles is a worker-owned co-operative in Greenfield, MA, producing organic fermented vegetables from Northeast-grown produce. Our mission is to promote human and ecological health by providing people with delicious, nourishing food and by working toward a regional, organic food system in the Northeast. We work to effect positive change for both people and the planet, from our commitment to purchase our vegetables exclusively from regional farms to our solar-powered and energy-efficient facility. Founded in 2001, Real Pickles has contributed to the modern resurgence of traditional fermented vegetables in the American diet and continues to be an industry leader in fermented foods. As a co-operative, each worker has the opportunity to become an owner of the business and participate in shaping its future. We are seeking a highly-qualified individual, who is inspired by our mission and interested in exploring worker-ownership in our co-op, to fill the role of Sales Representative .

The work location is our facility in Greenfield, MA. and requires some overnight travel.

Job duties:

The Sales Representative is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential customers to support and grow Real Pickles sales throughout the Northeast. This role supports Real Pickles’ sales and marketing efforts by promoting brand awareness, delivering excellent customer service and clearly communicating the company’s mission, product attributes, and fermentation knowledge.

The position involves a balance of inside and outside sales, customer support, and occasional participation in public events and product demonstrations. Customers include distributors, retailers, cafes, restaurants and individual buyers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate leads, establish new customer accounts and close sales
  • Increase sales at existing accounts and identify opportunities for growth
  • Track sales trends and customer needs
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email and in-person visits
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
  • Take orders, process invoices and arrange shipments accurately and efficiently
  • Provide timely, responsive customer service
  • Assist with distribution tasks as needed
  • Represent Real Pickles at weekend events, demos or other promotional activities

  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize time and responsibilities
  • Flexibility and ability to manage several tasks at once
  • A collaborative and respectful team player
  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail
  • Interest in organic, local and natural food trends
  • Previous sales experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $21 per hour
