Patient Care Representative - Endocrinology

The Endocrinology Department of MFM Health is seeking enthusiastic candidates for our Patient Care Representative (PCR) role. We are a busy ambulatory care office diagnosing and treating diabetes and other diseases looking for a well-rounded customer service candidate who can multi-task in a high-volume ambulatory setting. This position requires excellent communication, computer, and phone skills with the ability to multi-task. Medical experience, Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and Athena experience are highly desirable.

Job Duties Include:

  • Responsible for greeting patients/family, scheduling patient appointments, scheduling hospital and ambulatory admissions/procedures. Ensure appropriate action was taken in a timely manner.
  • Scheduling all Endocrine procedures( Thyroid Biopsies, Cortisone Stimulation Test).
  • Look through Endocrinologist's schedule at the end of the day to confirm that patients schedule follow up appointments w/ Endocrinologist.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in scheduling procedures to increase physician productivity.
  • Verbalizes procedure for collection of pre-admission testing data. Report scheduled hours - please report hours if logging in from home and please work scheduled hours.
  • Consistent communication w/ Endocrine Team. Answers the telephone promptly and deal with callers' needs expeditiously. Directs all calls appropriately, takes an accurate message and delivers to the appropriate individual. Demonstrates appropriate telephone etiquette.
  • Schedules future appointments, tests, and completes referrals as ordered by the physician.
  • Requests medical records and performs chart preparation to provide Endocrinologist with all information needed for visit prior to the actual exam, evaluation, procedure, or treatment. Prints minimal medical records information needed from electronic records if chart is not available. Please do not schedule a patient w/ Endocrinologist without records.
  • Provide new Endocrine patient w/ admission form and provide instruction if needed. Mail, fax or email form to patient prior to initial assessment with Endocrinologist.
  • Maintains communication resources, i.e. on-call schedule, MD phone numbers/Diabetes Team contact information. Responsible for all scheduling of the Diabetes Team/ Endocrine, complete responsibility for the Endocrinologist's schedule as well as additional clinical team members.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of insurance and pre-certification requirements.
  • Performs various clerical duties including faxing, photocopying, filing and mailings. Interacts with outside vendors/contracted services.
  • Obtains, verifies and updates patient information; maintains confidentiality according to policies.
  • Can assist patients with completion of Endocrine base forms.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with staff at MFM and on Diabetes Team
  • Protects the privacy and confidentiality of patients and employees.
  • Communicates any problems, concerns or issues promptly to Endocrinologist and / or Team Lead.
  • Provides training to other office staff if needed.
  • Assist Prolia/Evenity PA processes. Notify Endocrine MA when patients are scheduled to come in for injection preferably 2 weeks in advance.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned by managers and leads.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working in an ambulatory/outpatient practice preferred
  • Endocrinology experience preferred
  • Desire dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and friendly candidates

Education:

  • High School Diploma preferred

Job Type:

  • Full-time

Pay Range: $20 - $23 per hour; commensurate with experience
