Wetlands Administrator
The Town of Wellesley Natural Resources Department is seeking a full-time (35 hrs/week) Wetlands Administrator to perform professional and technical work supporting the Wetlands Protection Committee (WPC) in administering and enforcing the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and Town bylaws. This role supports protection of the Town’s wetlands and water resources in coordination with the Natural Resources Commission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review permit applications and advise the WPC on regulatory decisions
- Interpret and enforce wetlands laws, bylaws, and regulations
- Provide technical guidance to applicants, boards, and the public
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and respond to violations
- Prepare meeting materials, permits, and official records
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies
- Cross-train and provide oversight on departmental staff
- Maintain databases, GIS records, and support online permitting
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Knowledge of wetlands laws and regulations
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
GIS experience, and conservation-related licensure
Salary Range: $78,719 - $106,270, depending on qualifications.
