Under the supervision of the Customer Service Manager and any Cashier Supervisors, the Cashier is an hourly position responsible for servicing customers in the Farm retail stands in conformance with established Farm policies, strategies, and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to the needs of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations served by the Farm.
1) Provides courteous and attentive service to customers by answering questions, processing sales, and directing them to products. Keeps familiar with retail layout and stays knowledgeable about retail items. Ensures the highest level of service, environment, and quality product is provided. Builds customer relationships and ensures a positive experience for every visitor in the store.
2) Processes customer purchases efficiently and accurately. Handles all types of regular point of sale (POS) transactions including cash, check, credit cards, gift certificates and mixed tender. Maintains drawer accuracy.
3) Responsible for keeping counter areas clean and orderly. Assists in keeping the retail facilities clean and organized.
4) Other responsibilities including, but not limited to bagging groceries, cart retrieval, maintaining neat and orderly work spaces and sometimes assisting customers to their cars with purchases.
5) Communicates, as necessary, to retail manager or supervisor when product needs replenishing.
6) Assists retail stockers in maintaining and stocking product displays. Ensures products are clean, organized, properly labeled, and fully stocked. Periodically examines products to remove old or damaged items.
The above is a description of the ordinary duties of the position. It should be expected that from time to time, other duties both related and unrelated to the above may be assigned, and therefore, required.
Position Requirements:
Previous cashier and/or customer service experience, preferred. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, mathematical, and organizational skills. Familiarity with point of sale systems, preferred. Must possess strong work ethic. Requires an ability to stand for long periods of time.
