Lead teacher / preschool
Overview
Messiah Lutheran Preschool is looking to hire two Lead EEC Certified Teachers. We are looking to hire a Lead Toddler Teacher to co-teach in our Infant – Toddler program. Additionally, we are looking to hire a Lead Preschool Teacher to float in our growing Preschool program!
Interested candidates should be positive, caring and a creative team member who provides a variety of learning experiences to tap into the children’s curiosity and engage the whole child.
Experienced candidate will plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences that allow for children to explore, learn, and grow in a meaningful way. Candidates will support the readiness of children through social/emotional, cognitive, physical, and language activities. Establishes and maintains a balanced, safe, healthy learning environment. Encourages the involvement of families and strengthening the relationships between children, families, and community.
It is our goal that our new Lead Teachers will assist in providing an opportunity for children to develop a positive self-image through awareness of God’s presence in their lives. We encourage children to develop a personal relationship with Jesus, our Savior and Friend.
Job Duties/Expectations
-Successful candidates will be mature, dedicated, flexible and reliable and have a passion for teaching Preschool age children in a Christian-based environment.
-Be a creative thinker, have strong working knowledge of a child care center, a nurturing spirit and strong communication skills.
-Work with other Teachers and Assistants to create a child centered environment
-Take a leadership role in planning, preparing and implementing a successful learning environment that supports and challenges each child's development.
-Communicate regularly with supervisor and share all pertinent information as quickly as possible.
-Observe and record children's behavior for the purpose of assessing skills and planning appropriately to meet individual and group needs. Recognize areas of concern and initiate appropriate intervention or needed referrals. Attend parent conferences as required.
-Assess classroom needs for equipment, materials and supplies and report to supervisor.
-Maintain the space, equipment, materials and supplies in a safe, clean and orderly fashion.
-Provide accurate and timely reports, record keeping, and other documentation required for assigned classroom.
-Maintain strict adherence to health and safety policies and procedures.
-Attend all required staff meetings, workshops, trainings, committee meetings and parent functions.
-Contribute to a positive, supportive relationship by maintaining contact with families through phone calls, conferences, arrivals & departures, and family volunteer opportunities.
-Engage all children and parents by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
-Attend & participate in team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with children, parents and staff in other areas.
-Maintain confidentiality of program, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
-Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, EEC regulations.
-Other duties as outlined on Staff Handbooks/Contracts
Qualifications:
-EEC Infant/Toddler/Preschool Lead Teacher Certified - - Candidate will be left alone with children.
-Associates Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred).
-Must be comfortable working with diverse backgrounds and able to effectively communicate with children, families and co-workers.
-Ability to use problem solving, planning, and analytical skills.
-Effective written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
-Be a creative thinker, have strong working knowledge of a child care center, a nurturing spirit and strong communication skills.
-Must be deemed suitable through our background record check. (CORI/Fingerprint process)
-CPR/First Aid Certified – a plus.
