Austin Preparatory School, located in Reading, Massachusetts about 15 miles north of Boston, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Facilities and Operations . Founded in 1961, Austin Prep is an independent co-educational Catholic day school in the Augustinian tradition for students in grades 6-12. There are 800+ students enrolled in the school.

Austin Preparatory School seeks a mission-driven, highly skilled Director of Facilities and Operations to provide visionary and operational leadership for the school’s physical plant, grounds, and infrastructure. Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Administration and serving as a member of the school’s senior administrative team, the Director is responsible for the stewardship, sustainability, and strategic planning of all facilities-related operations and capital projects. This position requires a strong foundation in electrical, architectural, construction, and plumbing engineering, combined with a collaborative and student-centered approach to facilities leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

· A bachelor’s degree in electrical, Architectural, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or similar is required; an advanced degree or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desirable.

· At least 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, engineering, or campus operations, preferably in an academic or mission-based institution.

· Demonstrated expertise in building systems management, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems, with the ability to assess and solve complex technical issues.

· Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering plans and documents.

· A deep understanding of industry best practices, preventative maintenance strategies, and capital improvement planning.

· Strong project management skills, including experience overseeing new construction and major renovation projects from design to completion.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead diverse teams and engage effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners.
