General Summary of Position:
Great opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant to be a part of a strong Corporate Accounting team at a fast-paced, growing company. He/she/they would have primary responsibility over accounts receivable and related bad debt allowance, accrued liabilities, deferred costs and revenue, borrowings and tax related accounts as well as certain operating expenses (i.e. commissions, bad debt and other SG&A accounts). The candidate will also perform financial statement analysis of results and support in documentation of accounting policies, technical accounting analysis and documentation/implementation of internal controls.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post various A/R, accrued liabilities, deferred costs & revenue, borrowings, and tax related account journal entries for month-end close and ensure reconciliation and substantiation documentation is completed on a timely basis for responsible areas; research any discrepancies as needed
- Assist in the production of accurate monthly, supportable and timely financial reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP for corporate accounting operations
- Perform MoM and QoQ Balance Sheet account analysis (including trend, data and regression analysis)
- Perform expense variance analysis on a monthly basis for agency commissions, bad debt and other various SG&A accounts
- Support quarterly bank covenant reporting
- Support technical accounting analysis and research to help determine appropriate accounting treatment for significant, material transactions
- Help revamp documentation of accounting policies, rationalize and design more effective internal controls and robust procedures for responsible areas
- Assist with periodic and annual internal and external audits
- Work with other cross-functional teams (Tax, Treasury, Financial Systems & Controls, FP&A, Shared Services, and other business units) towards common Accounting/Finance department goals including a more efficient close process and bolstering documentation
- Complete special projects and other accounting functions as necessary including process transformation initiatives and new system implementations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and Internal Controls
- Excellent analytical skills and accounting aptitude
- Intermediate experience with MS Excel at a minimum
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to multi-task and work independently to meet deadlines
- Ability to collaborate with others towards common department goals
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work overtime during month-end close and other peak times
- Maturity to handle highly confidential data
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public accounting experience and/or CPA certification preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus
