Pool Manager
Statement of Duties
Under general supervision from the Facilities Manager, provides daily operation, supervision and maintenance of the Kennedy & Dilboy swimming pools. The Dilboy Pool is only operational during the summer season.
Essential Functions:

- Assists the Facilities Manager in hiring swimming pool personnel.
- Assists the Facilities Manager in establishing policies, procedures and safety rules for pool
- Personnel and general public.
- Supervises pool workers, including lifeguards, and front desk cashiers.
- Responsible for overseeing schedules of all workers, maintaining time sheets and records, and assist Facilities Manager in performance evaluations on all employees at the facility.
- Responsible for collecting, counting and itemizing swimming pool receipts. Including deposits.
- Responsible for ordering chemicals and daily maintenance of the pool.
- May instruct swimming lessons;
- May provide lifeguard coverage as needed;
- Performs related duties as required by the Facilities Manager, including painting and other general maintenance duties in the facility.
- Record and organize accurate records concerning attendance, accident reports, chlorine readings, and schedules.
- Handle routine disciplinary issues and communicate with the Facilities Manager potential disciplinary issues.
- Assist with the daily maintenance of pool and administer pump room procedures including chemical readings, balancing, and filtration.
- Monitor cleanliness of pool, equipment, decks, facility as a whole, locker rooms, patrons, and staff in order to maintain a safe environment.
- Knowledge of current in the developments of new pool equipment, facility designs and operational techniques.
- Plan and preform preventative maintenance functions appropriate and sustainable for proper pool facility operations.
- Assist with the program planning and in-service training sessions and participate in life-saving skill practices.
- Enforce all aquatics facility rules, policies, and procedures.
- Develop emergency and accident procedures.
- Communicate and develop educational programs for the pool program staff and public;
- Maintain a schedule of all events, activities and programs for the pool facility, assuring that all equipment necessary is in place and operable.
- Responsible for communicating needed purchasing of all supplies necessary to assure for the efficient, clean and safe operation of the pool facility.
- Work with the Facilities Manager in developing appropriate budget for proper pool operations.
- Perform any and all related duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma and 3-5 years pool experience or any equivalent of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Strong managerial, supervisory, interpersonal and communications skills.
- Experience with municipal government process and procedures.
- Experience with educational institutions preferred.
- Good knowledge of: life, safety, and health codes for public swimming pools; safety procedures for storing, handling, and using toxic chemicals.
- A thorough knowledge of the laws and rules established by regulatory bodies regarding pool operation;
- Understanding of current codes and practices established by Health Codes and national aquatic certification
Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license. First Aid/AED.
Required: Certified Pool Operator (CPO), American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard certification (or similar), ARC Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification (or similar), ARC Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification (or similar swim instructor certification),
Preferred: American Red Cross Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to use basic hand tools, lubrication equipment, meters, electric hand tools, water tester, pool vacuum, power washer, and water test kits.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Ability to work in safe and efficient manner.
Must display leadership abilities, be able to command the respect of pool staff as well as patrons, and be able to delegate duties when needed.
Must have effective decision making skills, public relation skills, and mathematics comprehension.
Working Environment
Spends time both indoors and outdoors with regular exposure to extreme hot, cold, or humid temperatures for one hour plus. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.

Sitting, standing, walking, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. multiple times per shift, talking, hearing, and seeing.
Motor Skills
Duties are both mental and physical; the job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Visual Skills
Visual demands require constantly reading documents for general understanding and analytical purposes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must possess adequate vision to distinguish colors and shades of color.
