WNDR Museum Boston is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our facilities maintenance team. This role is crucial in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance within our museum, with a particular focus on bathroom facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellence in cleanliness, and the ability to perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Industrial Cleaning Tasks: Perform comprehensive cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, and dusting to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of assigned areas within the museum.
  • Floor Care: Conduct floor care duties which include buffing, waxing, and polishing to ensure the floors are well-maintained and presentable.
  • Facilities Maintenance: Assist in various facilities maintenance tasks as needed, contributing to the overall upkeep of the museum.
  • Waste Management: Responsible for emptying trash receptacles, replacing liners, and managing waste efficiently.
  • Restroom Sanitation: Clean and sanitize restrooms thoroughly, ensuring they are hygienic and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Safety and Procedures: Adhere to established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines to maintain a safe environment for both staff and visitors.
  • Maintenance Reporting: Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor promptly, ensuring any issues are addressed in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience in commercial cleaning or custodial work is preferred, highlighting a background in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Cleaning Knowledge: Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and the use of cleaning equipment is essential.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) is necessary for the role.
  • Attention to Detail: Must have a keen eye for detail and the ability to work meticulously to ensure no area is overlooked.
  • Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, showing initiative and cooperation.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills are required to effectively interact with staff and customers, ensuring a positive experience for all museum visitors.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings and weekends, if required, to meet the needs of the museum.
