Assistant Aquatics Director

Haverhill Country Club is seeking a motivated, organized, and safety-focused Assistant Aquatics Director to join our aquatics leadership team for the season. We are in the process of building a brand-new pool! This role is ideal for an experienced lifeguard or aquatics professional looking to take the next step into a supervisory position within a premier private club environment.

The Assistant Aquatics Director works closely with the Aquatics Director to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality pool operations while helping lead and support the lifeguard team in delivering an exceptional member experience.

Position Overview

The Assistant Aquatics Director assists in overseeing daily pool operations, supervising lifeguard staff, enforcing safety standards and club policies, and maintaining a welcoming and professional pool environment. This role includes both supervisory responsibilities and active participation in lifeguarding and deck operations.

Responsibilities

• Support the Aquatics Director in the daily operation of the pool facility
• Assist with supervising, mentoring, and supporting lifeguard staff
• Help manage staff rotations, break schedules, and deck coverage
• Serve as a lead responder in emergency situations and assist with incident reporting
• Ensure pool rules, safety standards, and club policies are enforced consistently and professionally
• Actively lifeguard and rotate through assigned positions as needed, including:
• Elevated lifeguard stand and deck patrol
• Pool deck organization and general tidiness
• Oversight of locker room conditions and light monitoring
• Pool check-in desk support and member engagement
• Coordination with kids’ activity areas and special events
• Assisting with cabana operations, setup, and upkeep
• Assist with daily pool setup, breakdown, and operational readiness
• Communicate effectively with members, guests, and staff to ensure a positive pool experience

Qualifications

• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required
• Current Lifeguard Certification (Red Cross or equivalent required)
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required
• Prior lifeguarding experience required; supervisory or leadership experience preferred
• Strong swimming and rescue skills
• Professional, dependable, and approachable leadership style
• Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule
