CNC Turning Operator-Programmer

At Double E Group, we engineer and manufacture web and material handling and converting solutions that serve the paper, tissue, film, and foil markets worldwide. In our Machining/Manufacturing/Assembly facility, you’ll join a hands-on team that includes manual machining, saw cutting, assembly, and service experts—all committed to precise results.

Role Outcomes (First 90 Days)

• Master operating routines in a low-volume, high-mix cell with 5+ changeovers daily.
• Reduce average setup time by grouping and sequencing jobs intelligently.
• Demonstrate repeatable first-piece inspections using vernier calipers, micrometers, and drop dial indicators.
• Collaborate with Supervisor and Application Engineering/Programming to implement at least one process improvement.

Core Responsibilities

• Operate CNC equipment and perform efficient setups.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Stop machines to remove finished pieces or to change tooling, setup, or piece placement according to machining sequences.
• Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules using computer network links.
• Continuously verify proper lubrication and cooling during machine operation.
• Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished piece dimensions, and numerical control sequences.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements

• Some CNC programming experience.
• Average math skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions; simple oral communication skills.
• Team-oriented and reliable.

Physical Demands

• Lift, push, pull, and position components up to 50 lbs.
• Stand consistently for an entire 8 to 10-hour shift.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of three years’ machine shop experience, or one year with vocational school graduation.
• Knowledge of basic machining practices and materials is a plus; general mechanical knowledge also preferred.
