Field Service Technician Fire Alarms/Life Safety Systems

Responsibilities
- Explain product applications, features, specifications, and installation methods to customers.
- Provide technical support to customers by phone and written communications.
- Train customers on the proper operation, installation, usage, and maintenance of all company products, both in-house and at customer’s location, as needed.
- Troubleshoot electronic systems to the printed circuit board and subassembly levels, including by telephone or at customer’s location.
- Load and configure proprietary software used in company’s products.
- Manage customer relationships to boost customer retention and satisfaction.
- Participate in organizations and associations that set industry standards and regulations.
- Attend various customer and industry association meetings.
- Ensure compliance with:
- company policies, rules, and regulations
- all federal, state, and local authority laws, regulations, rules & codes.
- Represent the Company in a positive professional manner to develop relationships and promote products and services.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent technical school certification and training in the electrical or electronics field from an accredited institution.
- Three years minimum experience related to the installation and troubleshooting of electronic products and systems, preferably fire alarm products and life safety systems.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation
- Willing to travel (limited) to customer locations as required
- Able to successfully pass a drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle report (MVR) in accordance with company guidelines
Note : The following registered licenses are highly desirable, but not required
§ Commonwealth of Massachusetts Electrician License
· (Master “A” or Journeyman “B”)
§ Commonwealth of Massachusetts Registered Systems
· (Contractor “C” or Technician “D”)
§ State of Rhode Island License for Fire Alarm Systems
· (Contractor “AF” or Technician “BF”)
Skills and Knowledge
- Capable of explaining complicated systems in simple terms.
- Knowledge of electronic circuits and system with troubleshooting experience.
- Capable of reading and following electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
- Understanding of computer technology and a basic knowledge of networks
- Working knowledge and experience using test equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, communications monitors, and spectrum analyzers.
- Capable of documenting and communicating technical issues with engineering.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Can work independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines.
- Must have experience using the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc).
- Must have critical thinking skills to be able to analyze information and draw informed conclusions.
