Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join the Power Electronics team supporting the development of next-generation fusion energy technology. Under the direction of the Lead Electrical Test Technician, this role will support the receipt, installation, configuration, testing, validation, and commissioning of prototype and production-level power electronics converter systems and large-scale DC battery storage systems.
The Electrical Technician will play a key role in assembling and operating new test platforms, supporting system installations, collecting and reporting test data, and partnering with design engineers and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex electrical systems. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced electrical technologies while developing technical expertise in a fast-paced research, development, and manufacturing environment.
This role requires onsite work in Devens, MA for system installation and commissioning activities and in Somerville, MA for advanced prototype testing.
Job Responsibilities:
* Receive, install, configure, and test prototype and production-level power electronics converter systems.
* Support commissioning activities for large-scale power electronics and DC battery storage systems.
* Perform electrical testing, validation, troubleshooting, and documentation of system performance.
* Assemble, modify, and operate new electrical test platforms and equipment.
* Support the development and implementation of tactical tasks within the power electronics team.
* Collect, analyze, and report test results and data to responsible design engineers.
* Assist engineering teams with technical troubleshooting and system validation activities.
* Support installation and integration of complex electrical and electromechanical subsystems.
* Work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and integration teams.
* Follow electrical safety procedures and maintain compliance with applicable industry standards.
* Assist with prototype builds, system improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Perform additional technical and operational duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
* Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent certifications or extensive hands-on electrical experience will be considered.
* 3 years of hands-on electrical experience focused on installation, testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
* Experience working with low-voltage (<1000V) AC and DC electrical systems above 120 volts.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
* Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical and electromechanical systems.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on technical environment.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately document testing results and findings.
* Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with QEW training, low-voltage and medium-voltage systems, and Arc Flash Safety.
* Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and control hardware.
* Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
* Experience with medium-voltage systems (>1kV up to 35kV).
* Experience assembling prototype systems and electrical subsystems.
* Experience working in construction, manufacturing, assembly, or system integration environments.
* Experience working with complex electromechanical and mechanical systems.
* Experience supporting lifting operations and equipment handling.
