About the role:

The Content Development Manager has strategic and tactical responsibilities for the development of the division’s digital marketing content. They also lead the division’s content development practice in upholding the tools, procedures and processes for success, while managing a robust, external and multidisciplinary team for development.

The Content Development Manager drives execution across the division with an emphasis on ensuring the entire Endoscopy content program drives success against business objectives and provides effective experiences for customers.

In addition, the Content Development Manager serves as a critical gatekeeper of quality, ensuring all content creation, development and distribution are consistent with the content strategy, best practices and standards of excellence. They will select and maintain a stable of agency and freelance partners, in addition to our internal creative talent, to maintain quality and consistency. This role reports to the Group Manager of Digital Content Strategy.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Content Creation
    • Direct end-to-end oversight of the content creation process, including selection of the creative team members for development of assets and providing ongoing creative direction to ensure the content delivered aligns with the piece’s strategic goals. Content creation formats generally include copywriting, image selection, photography, videography, social posts, blog posts, long-format pieces, layouts, ads, emails, etc.
    • Manage the tools, procedures and processes for success, including creative briefs, establishing the content and cadence for rounds of reviews and stakeholder management with project managers, holding creative kickoffs, dictating points of collaboration, creative team member briefing, etc.
    • Collaborate with content strategists to complete creative briefs, customer journeys and other strategic tasks on some projects.
    • Proactive contingency planning with project management, creative team members and strategy partners before and during the content creation process.
    • Identify, evaluate, and build relationships with Endoscopy key opinion leaders (KOLs) and internal teams. Hold regular meetings for collaboration and ideation of these key groups, and determine which and how many KOLs we work with.
    • Collaborate with user experience and digital marketing teams to ensure output aligns to the strategy and user journey, delivering a coordinated, consistent, and connected user experience across digital channels while driving to identified KPIs.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Analyst to develop content reporting that informs the content strategy, including content engagement, identifying trends, and changes in behavior.

  • External team management
    • Manage a robust, external, multidisciplinary team that meets team needs for primary and promotional content creation.
    • Understand what the campaign and DMC team needs are for content types and creative skillsets on a quarterly basis.
    • Determine the correct balance of retainer agencies/contractors vs. project based to achieve the right mix to meet our budgetary, turnaround and skillet needs as a team.
    • Hold agency and contractor creative reviews twice/year for the team to proactively gather feedback and facilitate team decision making.
    • Act as the SME for external agency management of all social media accounts. Review editorial and content calendars, channel strategy, social listening and the social sharing app for the field selling organization.

  • Teamwork and leadership
    • Serve as a thought-leader by sharing knowledge and best practices with both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Identify content opportunities through industry trends and a strong understanding of our customers. Continually identify ways to innovate content creation and distribution.
    • Adheres to BSC and BSC Endoscopy’s social media process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Sciences or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in content creation and/or content strategy, including managing the creative process.
  • Experience managing an internal and external creative team, including providing creative and editorial direction, to produce high quality content.
  • Harnessing their own personal ability, they can give direction to others by demonstrating an in-depth understanding of target audience with a highly effective writing style, and expertise in high-impact messaging to broad audiences. Possesses the ability to articulate complex information in simple and relatable terms.
  • Broad experience developing and executing strategic communications plans and correlating metrics.
  • Self-starter, motivated, with a strong bias for finding solutions.
  • Highly organized, creative-oriented, and possesses outstanding follow-through skills.
  • In all actions, demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of all social platforms, including best practices for content development and distribution in each venue (Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn are critical)
  • Operating within a branded environment and complying with global brand standards
  • Collaborate across a matrix organization
  • Excellent visual, oral, and written communication skills for internal audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree
  • Experience working in a healthcare or highly regulated environment.
  • Experience with curating influencer marketing content, especially from interviewing SMEs, in a highly regulated environment.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see --will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
