Senior Veterinarian
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Veterinarian to lead clinical care at our modern, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital serving the Boston area. This leadership role offers the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team of veterinarians and support staff while helping shape the future growth of the practice.
This position is ideal for a motivated veterinary professional seeking long-term leadership growth. The Senior Veterinarian will play a key role in building and mentoring a high-performing veterinary team as the hospital expands to seven-day operations. For the right candidate, this role offers a clear pathway toward advancement into a Director of Operations position with oversight of multiple facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform comprehensive examinations and diagnose illnesses and injuries in companion animals, primarily dogs and cats
- Provide medical and surgical treatment as appropriate
- Administer vaccinations and provide preventative wellness care and client education
- Perform dental procedures and related treatments
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records and treatment plans
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care while supporting positive client experiences
Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate closely with fellow veterinarians, support staff, and referring veterinary partners
- Partner with the Regional Operations Manager and Hospital Manager to uphold clinical excellence and operational standards
- Help recruit, mentor, and develop a strong veterinary team to support hospital growth and expanded operations
- Foster a positive, supportive, and enjoyable environment for staff, clients, and patients
- Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
Professional Development
- Participate in continuing education, seminars, and training opportunities to stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine
- Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills while thriving in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Support innovation and best practices across hospital operations and patient care
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of five (5) years of veterinary experience in a hospital or clinical setting
- Eligibility to obtain a MA State Veterinary License
- Strong clinical and surgical skills with experience treating companion animals
