Summary
Operates various heat treating and other thermal processing equipment in accordance with job specifications and skill level. The Furnace Operator converts customer orders into Heat Treated finished product in accordance with the work orders, quality standards, and production schedules

In accordance with work orders and production schedules, operates various heat treating equipment. Responsible for the timely loading, operation, and unloading of various heat treating equipment within the facility. Performs these operations in accordance with the Work Order and applicable quality assurance, manufacturing and safety procedures. Notifies the Heat Treater or General Manager and/or Quality Manager of any deviation in the process and/or quality of work performed. Additionally, report any issues with equipment performance.
This processing includes: setting up, racking, fixturing parts, cleaning and degreasing parts to be heat treated.
Operates automatic & manual furnace processing equipment in a safe and efficient manner including performing corrective action in the event of equipment malfunction and to purge & adjust equipment. Performs all work in accordance with applicable Quality Assurance Procedures (QAP); checks calibration dates of equipment prior to being used.
Verifies and selects the appropriate program setting for programmable controllers. Also verifies and sets and adjusts time and temperature settings controls for various furnaces.
Verifies that processing equipment has sufficient utilities (gases, air pressure, oil levels, water flow etc.) before and during operations. Performs basic preventative maintenance and performs pre and post operational checks on all processing equipment. As appropriate to skill level, perform basic troubleshooting and repair on the equipment.
4. Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Receives direction and support from the Heat Treater, General Manager, and/or Quality Manager.
Performs all work in a safe manner, to include proper use of personal protective equipment.
Maintains an accurate record of all work performed in the appropriate company format including complete documentation within the work orders.
Maintains work area, tools and equipment in a neat, clean and orderly manner.
Performs related responsibilities such as packing and set up as schedule permits.

6. Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
7. Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
8. Language Ability
Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and safety rules. Ability to write and document work performed as well as inter-company communication.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
10. Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems.
11. Computer Skills
Ability to use Microsoft Office, business software, and data acquisition system
